Ion Channels in Madin-Darby Canine Kidney Cells

open access: yesKidney and Blood Pressure Research, 1990
Ion channels in Madin-Darby canine kidney cells serve transepithelial chloride transport and probably cell volume regulation. Three distinct potassium channels and one anion channel have been revealed by patch clamp studies in Madin-Darby canine kidney cells. The potassium channels are activated by an increase in intracellular calcium activity.

Claudins in the Renal Collecting Duct [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The renal collecting duct fine-tunes urinary composition, and thereby, coordinates key physiological processes, such as volume/blood pressure regulation, electrolyte-free water reabsorption, and acid-base homeostasis.

APOPTOSIS STUDY OF INDONESIAN AVIAN INFLUENZA VIRUS SUBTYPE H5N1 IN MADIN-DARBY CANINE KIDNEY CELLS

open access: yesJurnal Kedokteran Hewan, 2017
This study aimed to determine the ability of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAI) virus subtype H5N1 originated from Indonesia to induce apoptosis in Madin-Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cells.

Ca2+ movement and apoptosis induced by deltamethrin in Madin–Darby canine kidney canine renal tubular cells

open access: yesKaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, 2015
This study explored the effect of deltamethrin, a pesticide, on free Ca2+ concentration [Ca2+]i, viability, and apoptosis in Madin–Darby canine kidney (MDCK) canine renal tubular cells.

Identification of glycosylated marker proteins of epithelial polarity in MDCK cells by homology driven proteomics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
BACKGROUND: MDCK cells derived from canine kidney are an important experimental model system for investigating epithelial polarity in mammalian cells. Monoclonal antibodies against apical gp114 and basolateral p58 have served as important tools in these ...

Lixazinone Stimulates Mitogenesis of Madin-Darby Canine Kidney Cells

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 2006
Polycystic kidney diseases (PKD) are characterized by excessive proliferation of renal tubular epithelial cells, development of fluid-filled cysts, and progressive renal insufficiency. cAMP inhibits proliferation of normal renal tubular epithelial cells but stimulates proliferation of renal tubular epithelial cells derived from patients with PKD. Madin-

Involvement of Intracellular Ca2+ in the Regulatory Volume Decrease After Hyposmotic Swelling in MDCK Cells

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2007
We examined the source of Ca2+ involved in the volume regulation of Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells with confocal microscopy and fluoroprobes. Hyposmosis induced a transient increase in cell volume, as well as cytoplasmic Ca2+, which peaked at 3 ...

A conserved LDL-receptor motif regulates corin and CD320 membrane targeting in polarized renal epithelial cells

open access: yeseLife, 2020
Selective protein distribution on distinct plasma membranes is important for epithelial cell function. To date, how proteins are directed to specific epithelial cell surface is not fully understood. Here we report a conserved DSSDE motif in LDL-receptor (

Substrate Stiffness Determines the Establishment of Apical-Basal Polarization in Renal Epithelial Cells but Not in Tubuloid-Derived Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2022
Mechanical guidance of tissue morphogenesis is an emerging method of regenerative medicine that can be employed to steer functional kidney architecture for the purpose of bioartificial kidney design or renal tissue engineering strategies.

Urinary secretion and extracellular aggregation of mutant uromodulin isoforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Uromodulin is exclusively expressed in the thick ascending limb and is the most abundant protein secreted in urine where it is found in high-molecular-weight polymers.
