Sequence analysis of the human major histocompatibility gene SX alpha. [PDF]
The DP subregion of the human major histocompatibility complex contains two closely linked gene pairs, DP alpha, DP beta and SX alpha, SX beta. The exon-intron organization and the complete DNA sequence of the SX alpha gene are reported here. There are several mutations within the SX alpha gene which strongly suggest that it is a pseudogene.

Semilocal convergence conditions for the secant method, using recurrent functions
Using our new concept of recurrent functions, we present new sufficient convergence conditions for the secant method to a locally unique solution of a nonlinear equation in a Banach space.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

On Newton's method using recurrent functions under hypotheses up to the second Fréchet derivative
We provide semilocal result for the convergence of Newton method to a locally unique solution of an equation in a Banach space setting using hypotheses up to the second Fréchet-derivatives and our new idea of recurrent functions.

A convergence analysis of an iterative algorithm of order \(1.839\ldots\) under weak assumptions
We provide new and weaker sufficient local and semilocal conditions for the convergence of a certain iterative method of order 1.839\(\ldots\) to a solution of an equation in a Banach space.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Very Singular Similarity Solutions and Hermitian Spectral Theory for Semilinear Odd-Order PDEs [PDF]
Very singular self-similar solutions of semilinear odd-order PDEs are studied on the basis of a Hermitian-type spectral theory for linear rescaled odd-order operators.Comment: 49 pages, 12 ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A major component approach to presenting consensus sequences. [PDF]
Abstract MOTIVATION: Summarizing and displaying the information contained in a set of aligned sequences is an important aid to identifying patterns within the sequences. A variety of forms of consensus sequences have been used previously to provide this information.
