Volatile Flavor Constituents of Acerola (Malpighia emarginata DC.) Fruit
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2001Volatile components were isolated from acerola fruit by simultaneous steam distillation-solvent extraction according to the Likens-Nickerson method and analyzed by GC and GC-MS methods. One hundred fifty constituents were identified in the aroma concentrate, from which furfural, hexadecanoic acid, 3-methyl-3-butenol, and limonene were found to be the ...

Fruit development and ripening in Barbados cherry, Malpighia emarginata DC.
Scientia Horticulturae, 2002Abstract Barbados cherry fruit shows a biphasic pattern of growth whether monitored on a diameter or weight basis. Each growth phase was of about 2 weeks duration with weight gains of equal magnitude but with most of the size increase occurring in the first phase. Pyrene growth paralleled that of the whole fruit.

Resistance of Malpighia emarginata DC. Genotypes to Meloidogyne enterolobii Parasitism
Journal of Experimental Agriculture International, 2019Aims: Considering the inexistence of M. emarginata cultivars resistant to M. enterolobii available for cultivation, and the scarcity of information about the severity of its parasitism in M. emarginata, the present study investigated the response of genotypes from the active germplasm bank of Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco to M.

Anti-fatigue activity of an arabinan-rich pectin from acerola (Malpighia emarginata)
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2018A fraction composed of an arabinan-rich pectin was extracted from acerola fruit (Malpighia emarginata) and named ACWS. This fraction presented 93% of total carbohydrate, relative molecular weight of 7.5×104g/mol, galacturonic acid, arabinose, galactose, xylose and rhamnose in 52.1:32.4:7.2:4.8:3.5 molar ratio and had its structure confirmed by NMR ...

The present research work describes the major changes in the antioxidant properties during development of acerola from five different clones. Ripening improved fruit physicochemical quality parameters; however, total vitamin C and total soluble phenols (TSP) contents declined during development, which resulted in a lower total antioxidant activity (TAA)
