Norfriedelins A–C with Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitory Activity from Acerola Tree (Malpighia emarginata)

Organic Letters, 2013
Three novel norfriedelanes, A-C (1-3), were isolated from the branches and roots of Malpighia emarginata . Their structures and absolute configurations were determined by 1D and 2D NMR techniques and X-ray crystallographic analysis. Norfriedelin A (possessing an α-oxo-β-lactone group) and norfriedelin B (with a keto-lactone group) showed ...

Volatile Flavor Constituents of Acerola (Malpighia emarginata DC.) Fruit

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2001
Volatile components were isolated from acerola fruit by simultaneous steam distillation-solvent extraction according to the Likens-Nickerson method and analyzed by GC and GC-MS methods. One hundred fifty constituents were identified in the aroma concentrate, from which furfural, hexadecanoic acid, 3-methyl-3-butenol, and limonene were found to be the ...

Antihyperglycemic Effect of Polyphenols from Acerola (Malpighia emarginataDC.) Fruit

Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2006
A crude acerola polyphenol fraction (C-AP) was prepared by subjecting an acerola extract to a C18 cartridge column, and eluting the adsorbed fraction with ethanol containing 10% of acetic acid. C-AP appeared in a previous study to have an inhibitory effect on alpha-glucosidase and particularly on maltase activities.

Fruit development and ripening in Barbados cherry, Malpighia emarginata DC.

Scientia Horticulturae, 2002
Abstract Barbados cherry fruit shows a biphasic pattern of growth whether monitored on a diameter or weight basis. Each growth phase was of about 2 weeks duration with weight gains of equal magnitude but with most of the size increase occurring in the first phase. Pyrene growth paralleled that of the whole fruit.

Toxicological Evaluation of Polyphenol Extract from Acerola ( Malpighia emarginata DC.) Fruit

Journal of Food Science, 2008
ABSTRACT:  Acerola ( Malpighia emarginata DC.) is known to be one of the best fruits rich in ascorbic acid and polyphenols. Acerola polyphenols (APs) were found to have radical scavenging activities and inhibitory effects on both α‐glucosidase and advanced glycation ...

Resistance of Malpighia emarginata DC. Genotypes to Meloidogyne enterolobii Parasitism

Journal of Experimental Agriculture International, 2019
Aims: Considering the inexistence of M. emarginata cultivars resistant to M. enterolobii available for cultivation, and the scarcity of information about the severity of its parasitism in M. emarginata, the present study investigated the response of genotypes from the active germplasm bank of Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco to M.
