Sensitivity of Irish Pyrenopeziza brassicae populations to methyl benzimidazole carbamate (MBC), quinone outside inhibitor (QoI) and succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) fungicides

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
For three collections of Irish Pyrenopeziza brassicae populations fungicide sensitivity status to methyl benzimidazole carbamate (MBC), quinone outside inhibitor (QoI) and succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) fungicides was determined using sensitivity screening in vitro. Molecular mechanisms of insensitivity have been identified for MBC and QoI in

Evaluation of electrolyzed water to control fungal trunk pathogens in grapevine nurseries

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1740-1751, April 2025.
Electrolyzed water treatments could have promising applications in the grapevine nursery process to prevent or reduce infections caused by fungal trunk pathogens on grapevine propagation material. Abstract BACKGROUND Grapevine producers demand solutions to control fungal trunk pathogens (FTPs) in nurseries.

A Liquid Ge(IV) Precursor for Low Temperature Plasma Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition of Germanium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Utilizing the 3‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)propyl (DMP) ligand, the new liquid Ge(IV) precursor [Ge(DMP)4] has been developed, which possesses adequate volatility, reactivity, and exceptional thermal stability. This precursor is capable of low‐temperature processing of GeO2 and GeOx with tunable film composition and sub‐nm thickness control in a range from 40 ...

Candidozyma cisalpinoae sp. nov., a Genomically Distinct, Flower‐Associated Yeast, Resistant to Azoles and Exhibiting Pathogenicity‐Related Traits

open access: yesYeast, EarlyView.
Candidozyma cisalpinoae sp. nov. represents a distinct species within the Candidozyma clade, supported by multilocus phylogeny, genome‐scale metrics, and phenotypic traits. Although isolated from floral substrates, this species displays several traits commonly associated with opportunistic pathogenic yeasts.

Edges as ecological filters: Asymmetrical orientation‐specific arthropod activity across forest boundaries

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Moderate retention forestry creates structurally sharp forest edges that act as ecological filters, shaping orientation‐specific activity of ground‐dwelling arthropods. Using drift‐fence pitfall traps, we show that activity aligned with ecotones is more frequent than activity across forest–clearcut boundaries, particularly among detritivores.

Malting of preharvest sprouted wheat

open access: yesRevista Ciência Agronômica, 2019
Pre-harvest sprouting is one of the most important problems of the wheat crop and it is necessary to find alternative uses for the grain because millers reject the damaged wheat.

Effect of the microbiome on pathogen susceptibility across four Drosophilidae species

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Four Drosophilidae species were used to investigate how variation in the host microbiome influences susceptibility to infection. Microbial composition and abundance differed among species and treatments. The effects of microbiome manipulation on host survival were both species‐ and pathogen‐specific.
