Target tracking in maneuver centered coordinates
Proceedings of the 1988 IEEE National Radar Conference, 1989Aircraft targets normally maneuver on circular paths which has led to tracking filters based on circular turns. The authors introduce a new coordinate system to track circular maneuvers with a simple Kalman filter. When the maneuver is detected the tracker switches to a polar coordinate system located at the center of the maneuver.

Renewal models for maneuvering targets

The sample paths so generated may not be plausible. A renewal process model is shown to be more realistic, but a tracker based upon it is seen to be more complicated to implement.

Sequential detection of target maneuvers
2005 7th International Conference on Information Fusion, 2005This paper addresses target maneuver onset detection based on sequential statistical tests. Cumulative sums (CUSUM) type and Shiryayev sequential probability ratio (SSPRT) tests are developed by using a likelihood marginalization technique to cope with the difficulty that the target maneuver accelerations are unknown.
