Multiple Models — Fixed, Switching, Interacting

2004
In dynamic models the dynamic and the observation equations are based on a known system model. The multiple model approach introduces uncertainties about the system model by a set of possible system models. In the multiple model approach for fixed models the true system does not change during the whole observation process, wheareas in the approach for ...

Prognostics by interacting multiple model estimator

2016 IEEE International Conference on Prognostics and Health Management (ICPHM), 2016
In prognostics, the modeling of the failure models is complicated even for a single component, such as fatigue crack growth. For a complex system, there are a large number of components, and hence the failing models can be even more complicated due to diverse sub-systems and their components.

Performance Prediction of the Interacting Multiple Model Algorithm

1992 American Control Conference, 1992
The Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) algorithm has been shown to be one of the most cost-effective hybrid state estimation schemes. Its performance, however, could only be evaluated via expensive Monte-Carlo simulations. An effective approach to the performance evaluation without recourse to simulations is presented in this paper.

UV communications channel modeling incorporating multiple scattering interactions

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2011
In large part because of advancements in the design and fabrication of UV LEDs, photodetectors, and filters, significant research interest has recently been focused on non-line-of-sight UV communication systems. This research in, for example, system design and performance prediction, can be greatly aided by accurate channel models that allow for the ...

An interacting multiple model approach to model-based prognostics

SMC'03 Conference Proceedings. 2003 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. Conference Theme - System Security and Assurance (Cat. No.03CH37483), 2004
A system wide prognostic process is required to fulfill the needs of expensive and high availability industrial systems. The recent advances in model-based design technology have facilitated the integration of model-based diagnosis and prognosis of systems, leading to condition-based maintenance.

Polynomial Model Set and its Interacting Multiple Model Algorithms

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
From the maneuvering target orbit on the geometrical properties, according to different motion modes track corresponding to different order number polynomial curve, using the least squares fitting structure, this paper gives out a group of various motion modes matching the mathematical model—polynomial model set (PMS), and gives distinct mathematical ...

Multiple interactions: An empirically suggested model

Theoretical Population Biology, 1982
Abstract A modified version of Schoener's non-linear competition model is presented. The model describes the competitive dynamics of two species competing for a common resource. A second resource made available by species 1 for the exclusive use of species 2 is also present.

Performance analysis of interacting multiple model algorithm

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1999
Abstract A new non-simulation method for performance analysis of Interacting Multiple Model Algorithm is proposed. Firstly, how input-interaction effects model-conditional estimation is analyzed. Four conclusions are made qualitatively. Besides this, the compression ratio of model-conditional error is defined.

Detecting abandoned objects using interacting multiple models

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
In recent years, the wide use of video surveillance systems has caused an enormous increase in the amount of data that has to be stored, monitored, and processed. As a consequence, it is crucial to support human operators with automated surveillance applications.

AUV positioning based on interactive multiple model

OCEANS'10 IEEE SYDNEY, 2010
The research topic of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) has attracted much attention over years since they provide marine researchers easy ways to access the ocean for surveying and site investigation, etc. To accomplish these applications, an AUV has to know its position accurately. Therefore, AUV localization is very important problem.
