Transportation of Marangoni convection and irregular heat source in entropy optimized dissipative flow

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2020
This paper is about entropy generation in Marangoni convective flow due to rotating disk with irregular heat source. Nonlinear mixed convection radiative flow is considered here. Exponential base heat source is addressed.

Effect of radiation on thermosolutal Marangoni convection in a porous medium with chemical reaction and heat source/sink

, 2020
Thermosolutal Marangoni boundary layer flows are of great interest due to their applications in industrial applications such as drying of silicon wafers, thin layers of paint, glues, in heat exchangers, and crystal growth in space.

Thermovision applied to Benard-Marangoni convection

Applied Optics, 1982
Thermovision is a technique which visualizes the superficial temperatures of materials through the infrared radiation emitted by their surface. This technique is applied to a study of Benard-Marangoni convection. Isotherms of convective cells (hexagons as well as pentagonal and heptagonal defects) are presented.

Transition of Marangoni convection instability patterns during evaporation of sessile droplet at constant contact line mode

, 2020
Due to continuous variation of contact angle of a sessile droplet during evaporation at constant contact line mode, the behaviors of Marangoni convection inside the droplet would inevitably vary with evaporation.

Control of long-wavelength Marangoni–Bénard convection

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1999
A nonlinear feedback control strategy for delaying the onset and eliminating the subcritical nature of long-wavelength Marangoni–Bénard convection is investigated based on an evolution equation. A control temperature is applied to the lower wall in a gas–liquid layer otherwise heated uniformly from below.

Numerical simulation of thermal-solutal Marangoni convection in a shallow rectangular cavity with mutually perpendicular temperature and concentration gradients

, 2020
A series of three-dimensional numerical simulations have been carried out to examine the characteristics of thermal-solutal Marangoni convection in a rectangular cavity that is subjected to mutually perpendicular temperature and concentration gradients ...

On doubly diffusive Marangoni convection

Chemical Engineering Science, 1995
The paper deals with the cellular convection resulting from the parallel mass transfer of two components. It is shown that the case analysed cannot be regarded as fully equivalent to that of the simultaneous mass and heat transport due to the effect of the phenomena occurring in the Gibbs dividing layer.

Marangoni convection in a tear film

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1982
Abstract It is shown theoretically that Marangoni convection may exist in a human tear film due to the diffusion of mucin. However, the temperature drop across the tear film is not capable of generating Marangoni convection.

Square Patterns in Bénard-Marangoni Convection

Physical Review Letters, 1996
The evidence of square patterns in B\'enard-Marangoni convection relatively far above threshold is demonstrated for the first time by means of a direct numerical integration of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. It is shown that regular squares are only obtained for a finite Prandtl number.
