Cigarette smoking has a destructive effect on the extracellular matrix (ECM), so it is considered the most important risk factor for the development of emphysema as it leads to recruitment of activated macrophages and neutrophils in the lung leading to ...

Acute- and late-phase matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 activity is comparable in female and male rats after peripheral nerve injury. [PDF]
BACKGROUND:In the peripheral nerve, pro-inflammatory matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 performs essential functions in the acute response to injury. Whether MMP-9 activity contributes to late-phase injury or whether MMP-9 expression or activity after ...

This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Matrix metalloproteinase-1 promotes prostate tumor growth and metastasis
Cell migration and invasion are critical events during the progression to metastasis. Matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) is involved in the progression of human malignancies, but the precise role of MMP-1 in tumor invasion and metastasis remains unclear.

Expression of Interstitial Collagenase (Matrix Metalloproteinase‐1) in Gastric Cancers [PDF]
The expression of matrix metalloproteinase‐1 (MMP‐1) gene and the presence of MMP‐1 protein in gastric cancer were examined by in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry. Expression of the interstitial Collagenase (MMP‐1) gene was detected within the stroma of the neoplastic glands, and infiltration of eosinopilic was observed to be associated with

Objective The purpose was to evaluate a biomarker score consisting of MUC5B rs35705950 promoter variant, plasma matrix metalloproteinase‐7 (MMP‐7), and serum anti–malondialdehyde‐acetaldehyde (anti‐MAA) antibody for rheumatoid arthritis (RA)–associated interstitial lung disease (ILD) risk stratification.
