Kronecker Products, Low-Depth Circuits, and Matrix Rigidity [PDF]
For a matrix $M$ and a positive integer $r$, the rank $r$ rigidity of $M$ is the smallest number of entries of $M$ which one must change to make its rank at most $r$. There are many known applications of rigidity lower bounds to a variety of areas in complexity theory, but fewer known applications of rigidity upper bounds.

There is growing appreciation of the importance of the mechanical properties of the tumor microenvironment on disease progression. However, the role of extracellular matrix (ECM) stiffness and cellular mechanotransduction in epithelial ovarian cancer ...

Matrix Rigidity Depends on the Target Field.
The rigidity of a matrix A for target rank r is the minimum number of entries of A that need to be changed in order to obtain a matrix of rank at most r (Valiant, 1977). We study the dependence of rigidity on the target field. We consider especially two natural regimes: when one is allowed to make changes only from the field of definition of the matrix

A dynamic basal complex modulates mammalian sperm movement
Centrioles are ancient organelles with a conserved architecture and their rigidity is thought to restrict microtubule sliding. Here authors show that, in mammalian sperm, the atypical distal centriole and its surrounding atypical pericentriolar matrix ...

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Some aspects of the stic system stability calculation [PDF]
The problem presented in this paper has been treated intensively by various researchers. However, considering that by its nature the problem of structure stability belongs to the area of nonlinear analysis, it represents an inexhaustible source for ...

Matrix rigidity and the Croot-Lev-Pach lemma
Matrix rigidity is a notion put forth by Valiant as a means for proving arithmetic circuit lower bounds. A matrix is rigid if it is far, in Hamming distance, from any low rank matrix. Despite decades of efforts, no explicit matrix rigid enough to carry out Valiant's plan has been found.
