Maturity onset diabetes of the young and pregnancy
Best Practice & Research Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2010Three and a half decades after the clinical description of "Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young" (MODY), and despite its low prevalence, important knowledge has been gathered concerning its genetic basis, molecular pathways, clinical phenotypes and pharmacogenetic issues. This knowledge has proved to be important not only for the attention of subjects

Maturity‐Onset Diabetes of the Young
Acta Paediatrica, 1989ABSTRACT. A Norwegian family showed 20 cases of verified or suspected diabetes in 5 generations, 13 being females and 7 males. In 12 patients the diagnosis was established at 26 years of age or earlier. Fourteen patients were definitely non‐insulin‐dependent.

Maturity-onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY) in Pregnancy: A Review
Current Diabetes Reviews, 2023Abstract: Hyperglycaemia in pregnancy is one of the most common complications of pregnancy and is generally diagnosed as gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Nevertheless, clinical symptoms of hyperglycaemia in pregnancy in some cases do not match the clinical manifestations of GDM.

Systematic Assessment of Etiology in Adults With a Clinical Diagnosis of Young-Onset Type 2 Diabetes Is a Successful Strategy for Identifying Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: Misdiagnosis of maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) remains widespread, despite the benefits of optimized management. This cross-sectional study examined diagnostic misclassification of MODY in subjects with clinically labeled young ...

Genetic Basis of Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young
Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinics of North America, 2006Most valuable breakthroughs in the genetics of type 2 diabetes mellitus have arisen from familial linkage analysis of maturity-onset diabetes of the young, an autosomal dominant form of diabetes typically occurring before 25 years of age and caused by primary insulin-secretion defects.

Molecular Genetics of Maturity-onset Diabetes of the Young
Trends in Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1999Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is a genetically and clinically heterogeneous subtype of Type 2 diabetes characterized by early onset, autosomal dominant inheritance and primary defects in insulin secretion. To date, five proteins have been identified whose genetic absence or impairment causes MODY, the enzyme glucokinase (GCK/MODY2) and ...

Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY): an update
Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2015AbstractMaturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is a group of monogenic disorders characterized by autosomal dominantly inherited non-insulin dependent form of diabetes classically presenting in adolescence or young adults before the age of 25 years.

Diagnosis and Management of Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young
Treatments in Endocrinology, 2005Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is a dominantly inherited form of non-ketotic diabetes mellitus. It results from a primary defect of insulin secretion, and usually develops at childhood, adolescence, or young adulthood. MODY is a heterogeneous disease with regard to genetic, metabolic, and clinical features.

Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young in Asian Indians
1987Prior to the 1960’s it was generally believed that diabetes was a disease that could be sharply demarcated according to the age at diagnosis of the disease into a juvenile onset variety (IDDM today) and a maturity onset variety (NIDDM today). Fajans [1] first described from Ann Arbor, Michigan, cases of youth onset diabetes that were not insulin ...

Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young
2003In order to gain an understanding of maturity-onset diabetes of youth (MODY), we need to understand the general classification of diabetes mellitus 1,2,3. Diabetes mellitus is classified as Type 1 diabetes (T1DM), Type 2 diabetes (T2DM), other specific types of diabetes (2° diabetes) and gestational diabetes (GDM)4.
