Isomer Engineering of NIR‐II Aggregation‐Induced Emission for the Theranostics of MRSA‐Induced Abscess

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This work presents a positional isomer engineering strategy to create a microenvironment‐tolerant NIR‐II AIEgen. The para‐isomer exhibits optimized excited‐state dynamics, enabling potent Type‐I photodynamic activity under hypoxia along with photothermal conversion.

Automated Tuberculosis Detection in Chest Radiographs: A Hybrid Deep Learning Framework for Clinical Decision Support

open access: yesApplied AI Letters, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2026.
A hybrid deep learning framework integrating VGG16, ResNet50, and DenseNet121 is proposed for automated tuberculosis detection from chest X‐ray images. Feature‐level fusion enhances robustness and generalization, achieving 97.4% accuracy across multiple public datasets, supporting reliable clinical decision‐making in resource‐limited healthcare ...

Assessing transporter‐mediated rifampin–linezolid interaction using physiologically‐based pharmacokinetic modelling

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 6, Page 1845-1856, June 2026.
Abstract Aims The study aims to develop a physiologically‐based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model to quantitatively evaluate the role of ATP‐binding cassette sub‐family B member 1 (ABCB1) and ATP‐binding cassette super‐family G member 2 (ABCG2) in the drug–drug interaction (DDI) between rifampin and linezolid and to predict the impact of high‐dose rifampin ...

Contezolid in the Treatment of Multidrug‐Resistant Tuberculous Meningitis: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Multidrug‐resistant tuberculous meningitis (MDR‐TBM) has a high mortality rate, and treatment options are limited. Linezolid is recommended for refractory cases but often causes intolerable adverse reactions such as peripheral neuropathy. Contezolid, a novel oxazolidinone, has shown better safety profiles in preclinical and early clinical ...

Is HIV infection a risk factor for multi-drug resistant tuberculosis? A systematic review.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2009
BackgroundTuberculosis (TB) is an important cause of human suffering and death. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), multi-drug resistant TB (MDR-TB), and extensive drug resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) have emerged as threats to TB control.

High prevalence of primary multidrug resistant tuberculosis in persons with no known risk factors.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
IntroductionIn high multidrug resistant (MDR) tuberculosis (TB) prevalence areas, drug susceptibility testing (DST) at diagnosis is recommended for patients with risk factors for MDR.

Mitigating treatment failure of pulmonary pre-extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis: The role of new and repurposed drugs

open access: yesJournal of Microbiology, Immunology and Infection
Background: Pre-extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (pre-XDR-TB), defined as multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) with additional resistance to any fluoroquinolone (FQ) is difficult to treat.

Yield of facility-based verbal screening amongst household contacts of patients with multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in Pakistan

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Tuberculosis and Other Mycobacterial Diseases, 2017
Background: Household contacts of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) patients are at a high risk of getting infected with TB/MDR-TB, therefore symptomatic or vulnerable individuals should be screened and treated early.

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and risk factors associated with its development: a retrospective study

open access: yesJournal of Infection in Developing Countries, 2015
Introduction: Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) has emerged as a major clinical public health threat and challenges the national TB control program in Malaysia. Data that elaborates on the risk factors associated with the development of MDR-TB is
