Transcriptome-wide N6-methyladenosine modification profiling of long non-coding RNAs during replication of Marek’s disease virus in vitro

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2021
Background The newly discovered reversible N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification plays an important regulatory role in gene expression. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) participate in Marek’s disease virus (MDV) replication but how m6A modifications in ...

Effect of Insertion and Deletion in the Meq Protein Encoded by Highly Oncogenic Marek’s Disease Virus on Transactivation Activity and Virulence

open access: yesViruses, 2022
Marek’s disease virus (MDV) causes malignant lymphoma in chickens (Marek’s disease, MD). Although MD is currently controlled by vaccination, MDV strains have continuously increased in virulence over the recent decades.

In Vivo Inhibition of Marek’s Disease Virus in Transgenic Chickens Expressing Cas9 and gRNA against ICP4

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2021
Marek’s disease (MD), caused by MD herpesvirus (MDV), is an economically important disease in chickens. The efficacy of the existing vaccines against evolving virulent stains may become limited and necessitates the development of novel antiviral ...

The survey on the circulation of Marek’s disease virus in local chickens in Tra Vinh province, Vietnam

open access: yesVeterinary Integrative Sciences, 2023
The study was conducted to determine the circulation of Marek’s disease virus in local chickens in Tra Vinh province. A total of 343 feather follicle samples were collected from 49 unvaccinated chicken flocks for Marek disease in Tra Vinh City ...

Avian oncogenic herpesvirus antagonizes the cGAS-STING DNA-sensing pathway to mediate immune evasion.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2019
The cellular DNA sensor cGMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) detects cytosolic viral DNA via the stimulator of interferon genes (STING) to initiate innate antiviral response.

Assembly of Marek's disease virus (MDV) capsids using recombinant baculoviruses expressing MDV capsid proteins

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2004
The genes UL18, UL19, UL26, UL26.5, UL35 and UL38 of Marek's disease virus 1 (MDV-1) strain RB1B, encoding the homologues of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) capsid proteins VP23, VP5, VP21–VP24, preVP22a, VP26 and VP19C, were identified and sequenced. Recombinant baculoviruses were used to express the six capsid genes in insect cells.

Marek's Disease Virus Type 2 (MDV-2)-Encoded MicroRNAs Show No Sequence Conservation with Those Encoded by MDV-1 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2007
ABSTRACTMicroRNAs (miRNAs) are increasingly being recognized as major regulators of gene expression in many organisms, including viruses. Among viruses, members of the familyHerpesviridaeaccount for the majority of the currently known virus-encoded miRNAs.

Recombinant Marek’s Disease Virus (MDV)-Derived Lymphoblastoid Cell Lines: Regulation of a Marker Gene within the Context of the MDV Genome [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1999
ABSTRACTMarek’s disease is a herpesvirus (Marek’s disease virus [MDV])-induced pathology of chickens characterized by paralysis and the rapid appearance of T-cell lymphomas. Lymphoblastoid cell lines (LBCLs) derived from MDV-induced tumors have served as models of MDV latency and transformation. We have recently reported the construction of mutant MDVs

Metabolomic profiling of Marek’s disease virus infection in host cell based on untargeted LC-MS

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
Marek’s disease (MD) caused by Marek’s disease virus (MDV), poses a serious threat to the poultry industry by inducing neurological disease and malignant lymphoma in infected chickens.

Diversity (Polymorphism) of the meq Gene in the Attenuated Marek's Disease Virus (MDV) Serotype 1 and MDV-Transformed Cell Lines.

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 2002
The meq gene encoding a 339-amino-acid bZIP transactivator protein has been identified as a candidate oncogene of Marek's disease virus serotype 1 (MDV1), which induces malignant lymphomas in chickens. We have previously reported that, in addition to meq, L-meq, in which a 180-bp sequence is inserted into the region encoding the transactivation domain ...
