Temporal distribution of acute kidney injury–related hospitalizations after initiation of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors: A nationwide claims database analysis in older adults with an independent complementary single‐center eGFR analysis

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Among 190 older adults who experienced AKI‐related hospitalization after SGLT2 inhibitor initiation, 31.1% were hospitalized within 30 days. In an independent single‐center cohort, sustained early eGFR decline was associated with older age and use of one or two triple‐whammy‐related drug classes.

Education and the Shadow Economy: A Panel Cointegration Analysis

open access: yesKyklos, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the impact of education on the shadow economy across 132 countries over the period 1991–2020. To this end, panel cointegration and panel error‐correction models are employed. The results of the panel cointegration tests indicate a stable long‐term relationship among the selected variables.

The Transcriptional Landscape of Marek’s Disease Virus in Primary Chicken B Cells Reveals Novel Splice Variants and Genes

open access: yesViruses, 2019
Marek’s disease virus (MDV) is an oncogenic alphaherpesvirus that infects chickens and poses a serious threat to poultry health. In infected animals, MDV efficiently replicates in B cells in various lymphoid organs.

A monoclonal antibody to ICP4 of MDV recognizing ICP4 of serotype 1 and 3 MDV strains.

open access: yesActa virologica, 2000
Monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) were prepared against ICP4 of Marek's disease virus (MDV). Mice were inoculated with ICP4 obtained from High-Five insect cells infected with a recombinant baculovirus expressing ICP4. MAbs were selected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using MDV-infected and control chick kidney cells as antigens.

Canonical and non‐canonical functions of proteins regulating mitochondrial dynamics in mammalian physiology

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles that continuously remodel their architecture through coordinated cycles of fusion and fission. This review examines the four key GTPases that orchestrate mitochondrial dynamics in mammals: MFN1, MFN2, OPA1, and DRP1.

Amino acid insertion in the Meq protein of Marek’s disease virus, an avian oncogenic herpesvirus, accelerates tumorigenesis

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Marek’s disease virus (MDV) causes lymphomas (Marek’s disease) in chickens. Despite vaccination, MDV field strains exhibit increased virulence, and sporadic outbreaks are still reported.

Permafrost Degradation Drives Shifts in Chemostasis and Stream Geochemistry in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract In the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica's largest ice‐free area, the stream channels consist of rock and sediment that are underlain by permafrost. Substantial permafrost degradation and channel erosion occurred in January 2012 on the west branch of Crescent Stream, while the east branch remained unaffected.

A world view: Considerations of sociocultural diversity in the study of subjective cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) refers to cognitive concerns that may occur with or without objective impairment on standardized testing. Studies suggest that SCD may be an early clinical marker of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, and that it can predict future objective cognitive decline and progression to dementia.

Isolation and Characterization of Marek's Disease Virus (MDV) cDNAs Mapping to theBamHI-I2,BamHI-Q2, andBamHI-L Fragments of the MDV Genome from Lymphoblastoid Cells Transformed and Persistently Infected with MDV

open access: yesVirology, 1995
We have isolated and sequenced two cDNAs of sizes 2674 and 677 bp from a cDNA library derived from MKT-1, a lymphoblastoid cell line transformed and latently infected with Marek's disease virus (MDV) using probes corresponding to the right-hand end of the BamHI-I2 fragment of the MDV genome.

Charge and Spin Distribution in the Triplet State of a Porphyrin Cofacial Heterodimer via Hyperfine Spectroscopy

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 10, Issue 9, September 2026.
The delocalization and charge transfer contributions to the lowest photoexcited triplet state of an Al(III) porphyrin‐P(V) porphyrin cofacial heterodimer (AlPor‐O‐PPor·PF6) have been estimated by means of pulse electron nuclear double resonance spectroscopy in three glass‐forming solvents of different polarity and Lewis basicity.
