Development of MDM2‐Targeting PROTAC for Advancing Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a creative pipeline for developing MDM2‐targeting PROTACs (MDM2‐PROTACs) for application in bone regeneration. The developed PROTACs (CL144 and CL174) are validated for their degradation efficiency and osteogenic effects in human BMSCs.

MTCH2 Suppresses Thermogenesis by Regulating Autophagy in Adipose Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that MTCH2 acts as an evolutionarily conserved regulator of energy homeostasis across Drosophila, rodents, and humans. Adipose‐specific MTCH2 ablation enhances brown/beige adipose thermogenesis through Bcl‐2‐dependent autophagy, promoting energy expenditure and counteracting obesity‐associated metabolic disorders. These findings

Study of the chemical composition of seed and seed oil of cichorium intybus L

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 1996
Seeds from Cichorium intybus L harvested at Olavarría (Buenos Aires, Argentine) were defatted with petroleum ether (60°-80°) and the raw oil obtained with a yield of 13.3% dry basis. The crude oil was examined in their physicochemical characteristics had

A Touch Enabled Hemodynamic and Metabolic Monitor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a touch‐based hybrid platform for simultaneous monitoring of vital signs and sweat metabolites. With a simple tri‐finger touch of 4–6 min, users can concurrently get to know their glucose, uric acid, cortisol levels from fingertip sweat, along with blood pressure and heart rate.

Use of Plant Proteins in Catfish Feeds: Replacement of Soybean Meal with Cottonseed Meal and Replacement of Fish Meal with Soybean Meal and Cottonseed Meal

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, 1994
AbstractPlant protein sources were evaluated in 32% protein grow‐out feeds for channel catfish (initial weight: 180 g/fish) stocked at high densities (24,700 fish/ha) in 0.04 ha earthen ponds. Each of the eight practical‐type feeds was assigned for five replicate ponds. The fish were fed to satiation once daily for 170 d.

Food waste, date labels, and risk preferences: An experimental exploration

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
Abstract This study provides theoretical and experimental evidence that consumers adjust their premeditated food waste by date labels and their risk and loss preferences. The “Use by” date label leads to more premeditated food waste than “Best by” for deli meat and spaghetti sauce.

Bayesian Optimization Assisted Meal Bolus Decision Based on Gaussian Processes Learning and Risk-Sensitive Control [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Effective postprandial glucose control is important to glucose management for subjects with diabetes mellitus. In this work, a data-driven meal bolus decision method is proposed without the need of subject-specific glucose management parameters. The postprandial glucose dynamics is learnt using Gaussian process regression.

Complexity on the Menu and in the Meal [PDF]

open access: yesFoods, 2018
Complexity is generally perceived to be a desirable attribute as far as the design/delivery of food and beverage experiences is concerned. However, that said, there are many different kinds of complexity, or at least people use the term when talking about quite different things, and not all of them are relevant to the design of food and drink ...
