Comparative study of adenosine 3′‐pyrophosphokinase domains of MuF polymorphic toxins
With the ultimate goal of understanding the association of toxin‐immunity modules to temperate phages, we characterized toxins from three prophages and examined cross‐protection from immunity proteins. The toxins exhibit adenosine 3′‐pyrophosphokinase activity and are toxic in Escherichia coli.

Structure of Bovine CD46 Ectodomain
CD46, or membrane cofactor protein, is a type-one transmembrane protein from the complement regulatory protein family. Alongside its role in complement activation, CD46 is involved in many other processes, from T-cell activation to reproduction.

Ca2+‐mediated response to DMSO was investigated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells expressing Ca2+‐dependent aequorin. Cell exposure to DMSO induced a cytosolic Ca2+ wave dependent on the integrity of the Cch1/Mid1 channel. Deletion of KCS1 or VIP1 genes encoding the phosphoinositol pyrophosphate (PP‐IP) synthases suppressed the DMSO‐induced Ca2 ...

Distinct mechanisms of Drosophila CRYPTOCHROME-mediated light-evoked membrane depolarization and in vivo clock resetting. [PDF]
Drosophila CRYPTOCHROME (dCRY) mediates electrophysiological depolarization and circadian clock resetting in response to blue or ultraviolet (UV) light.

The Regulation of Trace Metal Elements in Cancer Ferroptosis
The induction of ferroptosis inhibits tumor growth, enhances anticancer efficacy, and overcomes drug resistance. Recent evidence shows nonferrous metal elements play a role in ferroptosis. This review focuses on how trace metals regulate ferroptosis processes like iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant defense.

Expression and characterization of CD46, membrane cofactor protein, in human colonic mucosa.
CD 46, membrane cofactor protein (MCP), is a membrane regulatory glycoprotein of the complement system, and acts as a cofactor of factor I, which inactivates C3b and C4b bound on autologous cell membrane. MCP is present on human peripheral blood cells except erythrocytes, fibroblasts, epithelial and endothelial cells, and has been proved to exist in ...

Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) is characterized by the triad of thrombocytopenia, microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, and acute renal failure. The non-Shiga toxin-associated HUS (atypical HUS [aHUS]) has been shown to be a disease of complement ...

The limitations of existing clinical treatments highlight the need for a more comprehensive strategy for addressing infected diabetic wounds. A tri‐layered scaffold is developed to deliver therapeutics loaded in CuBDC and ZIF‐8 MOFs that are tailored to the requirements of deep‐infected diabetic wounds.
