A three-component model of the spinal nerve ramification: Bringing together the human gross anatomy and modern Embryology

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2023
Due to its long history, the study of human gross anatomy has not adequately incorporated modern embryological findings; consequently, the current understanding has often been incompatible with recent discoveries from molecular studies.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Spatiotemporal oscillations of Notch1, Dll1 and NICD are coordinated across the mouse PSM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
During somitogenesis, epithelial somites form from the pre-somitic mesoderm (PSM) in a periodic manner. This periodicity is regulated by a molecular oscillator, known as the 'segmentation clock', that is characterised by an oscillatory pattern of gene ...

Adult-onset degeneration of adipose tissue in mice deficient for the Sox8 transcription factor

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2009
Although the transcription factor Sox8 is broadly expressed during embryogenesis in developing ectodermal and mesodermal tissues, mice develop surprisingly normally in the absence of Sox8.

Complete Dorsal Pancreatic Agenesis and Unilateral Renal Agenesis: First Case Report and Review of Literature [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Anatomy Radiology and Surgery, 2016
Dorsal pancreatic agenesis is very rare congenital anomaly of pancreas. Patients with this anomaly are usually asymptomatic or may present with abdominal pain or acute or chronic pancreatitis.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Tukushi modulates Xnr2, FGF, and and BMP signalling: Regulation of Xenopus Germ Layer Formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND: Cell-cell communication is essential in tissue patterning. In early amphibian development, mesoderm is formed in the blastula-stage embryo through inductive interactions in which vegetal cells act on overlying equatorial cells. Members of the

Directional mesoderm cell migration in the Xenopus gastrula [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The movement of the dorsal mesoderm across the blastocoel roof of the Xenopus gastrula is examined. We show that different parts of the mesoderm which can be distinguished by their morphogenetic behavior in the embryo are all able to migrate ...

FGF-mediated establishment of left-right asymmetry requires Rab7 function in the dorsal mesoderm in Xenopus

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2022
Gastrulation denotes a very important developmental process, which includes significant structural tissue rearrangements and patterning events that shape the emerging vertebrate organism.
