CYP2C8*3 and *4 define CYP2C8 phenotype: An approach with the substrate cinitapride

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 15, Issue 11, Page 2613-2624, November 2022., 2022
Abstract Cinitapride is a gastrointestinal prokinetic drug, prescribed for the treatment of functional dyspepsia, and as an adjuvant therapy for gastroesophageal reflux disease. In this study, we aimed to explore the impact of relevant variants in CYP3A4 and CYP2C8 and other pharmacogenes, along with demographic characteristics, on cinitapride ...

Norethisterone‐induced cholestasis: A case report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 10, Issue 3, March 2022., 2022
The estrogenic component of combined oral contraceptive pill is the one generally believed to be responsible for drug‐induced cholestasis. Progesteron‐only induced‐cholestasis is quite rare and could be triggered by underlying predispositions. Abstract Case presentation This case report concerns a 49‐year‐old woman who developed cholestasis (build‐up ...

Analytical performance of the endogenous thrombin potential–based activated protein C resistance assay on the automated ST Genesia system

open access: yesResearch and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Volume 6, Issue 3, March 2022., 2022
Abstract Background The evaluation of activated protein C (APC) resistance based on the endogenous thrombin potential (ETP) is recommended during the development of steroid contraceptives in women. In 2019, this assay was validated on the calibrated automated thrombogram (CAT) device.

Virtual and in Vitro Screening Employing a Repurposing Approach Reveal 13-cis-Retinoic Acid is a PTP1B Inhibitor. [PDF]

open access: yesChemMedChem
A computational screening using cheminformatics and molecular docking has been performed on PTP1B. In vitro assays have revealed that 13‐cis‐retinoic acid is a competitive inhibitor. This is the first report of 13‐cis‐retinoic acid as PTP1B inhibitor, making it a valuable candidate for future research toward its repositioning.

Use of contraceptives and risk of inflammatory bowel disease: a nested case–control study

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 55, Issue 3, Page 318-326, February 2022., 2022
Nested case‐control study including 4932 IBD cases matched to 29 340 controls. Use of oestrogen‐containing contraception was associated with development of both CD and UC. Progestogen‐only pills were not associated with CD but there was a modest association with UC. Parenteral progestogen‐only methods were not associated with IBD.

Analysis of clinical outcomes and meiotic segregation modes following preimplantation genetic testing for structural rearrangements using aCGH/NGS in couples with balanced chromosome rearrangement

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, Volume 21, Issue 1, January/December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To retrospectively evaluate the effectiveness of PGT‐SR by array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) or next‐generation sequencing (NGS) in preventing recurrent miscarriages. Methods Thirty one couples with balanced translocation who underwent 68 PGT‐SR cycles between 2012 and 2020 were evaluated.
