Progress in Research on Alleviating the Symptoms Associated With Advanced Cancer Using Traditional Chinese Medicine

open access: yesPain Research and Management, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Advanced cancer continues to pose a substantial global challenge, with complex symptom burdens and limited therapeutic options. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), grounded in holistic theory and the principles of syndrome differentiation, employs interventions such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, and acupoint‐based therapies to address ...

Effects of loperamide on the human hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal axis in vivo and in vitro. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Loperamide, an opiate agonist of high specificity for p-receptors, was recently reported to suppress ACTH and cortisol levels in normal subjects, but not in patients with proven ACTH-dependent Cushing’s disease. However, there is little information on

Comprehensive Analysis of Sinomenii caulis and Menispermi rhizoma Based on Ultra‐High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Ultra‐High Performance Liquid Chromatography‐Quadrupole Time‐of‐Flight‐Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 2, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Sinomenii caulis (SC) and Menispermi rhizoma (MR) are Chinese herbal medicines from the same family and are often confused. To achieve identification of SC and MR, the paper used the differential chemical components and the combination characteristics of chemical components to carry out a comprehensive analysis.

Peptide chirality and opioid receptor modulation: Hepatoprotective effect of d-Met-enkephalin in acetaminophen-induced liver injury

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica
l-Met-enkephalin is a neuropeptide known to exert protective effects in various experimental models of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. These effects are mediated through opioid receptors and can be abolished by the opioid receptor antagonist ...

Downregulation of the endogenous opioid peptides in the dorsal striatum of human alcoholics

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2015
The endogenous opioid peptides dynorphins and enkephalins may be involved in brain-area specific synaptic adaptations relevant for different stages of an addiction cycle.

Unfolding Hidden Barriers by Active Enhanced Sampling

open access: yes, 2017
Collective variable (CV) or order parameter based enhanced sampling algorithms have achieved great success due to their ability to efficiently explore the rough potential energy landscapes of complex systems.

Adoptive transfer of M2 macrophages reduces neuropathic pain via opioid peptides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background During the inflammation which occurs following nerve damage, macrophages are recruited to the site of injury. Phenotypic diversity is a hallmark of the macrophage lineage and includes pro-inflammatory M1 and anti- inflammatory M2 populations ...

High Resolution Postmortem MRI Discovers Developing Structural Connectivity in the Human Ascending Arousal Network

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 17, 01 December 2025.
We used high‐resolution ex vivo diffusion MRI and graph theory to analyze ascending arousal network development in fetal to adult brains, revealing increasing rostral integration postnatally and identifying the dorsal raphe nucleus and ventral tegmental area as persistent connectivity hubs from fetal stages through adulthood.

Replica-exchange multicanonical algorithm and multicanonical replica-exchange method for simulating systems with rough energy landscape

open access: yes, 2000
We propose two efficient algorithms for configurational sampling of systems with rough energy landscape. The first one is a new method for the determination of the multicanonical weight factor.

Parallel Tempering: Theory, Applications, and New Perspectives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We review the history of the parallel tempering simulation method. From its origins in data analysis, the parallel tempering method has become a standard workhorse of physiochemical simulations.
