Optimizing and evaluating the reconstruction of Metagenome-assembled microbial genomes [PDF]
Background Microbiome/host interactions describe characteristics that affect the host's health. Shotgun metagenomics includes sequencing a random subset of the microbiome to analyze its taxonomic and metabolic potential.

Reconstruction of Metagenome-Assembled Genomes from Aquaria. [PDF]
Here, we report 11 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) reconstructed from freshwater and saltwater aquaria, including representatives of Polynucleobacter, Anaerolinea, Roseobacter, Flavobacteriia, Octadecabacter, Mycobacterium, and Candidate Phyla ...

Background Prokaryotes dominate the biosphere and regulate biogeochemical processes essential to all life. Yet, our knowledge about their biology is for the most part limited to the minority that has been successfully cultured.

Genomes from uncultivated prokaryotes: a comparison of metagenome-assembled and single-amplified genomes [PDF]
BackgroundProkaryotes dominate the biosphere and regulate biogeochemical processes essential to all life. Yet, our knowledge about their biology is for the most part limited to the minority that has been successfully cultured.

Ecophysiology of Freshwater Verrucomicrobia Inferred from Metagenome-Assembled Genomes [PDF]
Microbes are critical in carbon and nutrient cycling in freshwater ecosystems. Members of the Verrucomicrobia are ubiquitous in such systems, and yet their roles and ecophysiology are not well understood.

Critical assessment of pan-genomics of metagenome-assembled genomes [PDF]
Abstract Background Large scale metagenome assembly and binning to generate metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) has become possible in the past five years. As a result, millions of MAGs have been produced and increasingly included in pan-genomics workflow.

Metagenome-assembled-genomes (MAGs)
MAGs were constructed using snakemake metagenome workflow in anvi'o (Eren et al., 2015). A detailed explanation on the workflow (such as the softwares used in anvi'o) can be found in the supplementary material of the paper.

Metagenome assembled genomes are for eukaryotes too
Environmental community sequencing is suitable for producing metagenome assembled genomes (MAGs) of prokaryotes, but there is the perception that it cannot work for eukaryotes. In this issue of Cell Genomics, Delmont et al(1) process a massive sequencing dataset from marine plankton to produce 683 eukaryotic MAGs; the study also includes useful ...

Metagenome-assembled genomes from sugarcane mill mud
ABSTRACT The genomes of 11 bacteria and 3 archaea were assembled from metagenomic DNA extracted from sugarcane mill mud. These metagenome-assembled genomes ranged from 1.79 to 6.45 Mb, with 2,263 to 5,551 predicted proteins, 80.65% to 100% genome completeness, and 43.19% to 68.02% G+C content.
