Effect of two-step pretreatment on cobalt contents and surface roughness of tungsten carbide substrate prior to diamond coating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Cemented tungsten carbide is the most widely used material for cutting tools. Due to extreme demands higher tool life several types of coating have been introduced to prolong the service time which include diamond coating.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

(Invited) towards a vertical and damage free post-etch InGaAs fin profile: dry etch processing, sidewall damage assessment and mitigation options [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Based on current projections, III-Vs are expected to replace Si as the n-channel solution in FinFETs at the 7nm technology node. The realisation of III-V FinFETs entails top-down fabrication via dry etch techniques. Vertical fins in conjunction with high

High-Speed and Direction-Controlled Formation of Silicon Nanowire Arrays Assisted by Electric Field

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2020
Metal-assisted chemical etching (MaCE), a low-cost and versatile method was considered a promising technique for preparing silicon nanowires (SiNWs), yet the lack of well controlling the injected holes within Si might reduce the etching rate, create the ...
