Sculpting the Future of Bone: The Evolution of Absorbable Materials in Orthopedics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the current status of polymeric, ceramic, and metallic absorbable materials in orthopedic applications, and highlights several innovative strategies designed to enhance mechanical performance, control degradation, and promote bioactivity. We also discuss the progress and translational potential of absorbable materials in treating

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Pig Farming

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2005
We conducted a study among a group of 26 regional pig farmers to determine the methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus prevalence rate and found it was >760 times greater than the rate of patients admitted to Dutch hospitals.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus

open access: yesD Y Patil Journal of Health Sciences, 2022
Background: Ever-increasing numbers of infections by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains are being reported in the hospitals. Healthcare workers (HCWs) become colonized with MRSA and act as source as well as vectors for the transmission of MRSA infections to the patients.

Eutectozymes as Soft Hybrid Materials for Advanced Biocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Eutectozymes are sustainable hybrid materials that embed a GOx–HRP cascade within hydrophobic eutectogels featuring a dual supramolecular–covalent network. This architecture preserves native enzyme structure and stability, enables efficient heterogeneous biocatalysis in aqueous media, and positions eutectogels as robust platforms for next‐generation ...

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and anti-MRSA activities of extracts of some medicinal plants: A brief review

open access: yesAIMS Microbiology, 2019
The increasing emergence of multidrug-resistant infection causing microorganisms has become a significant burden globally. Despite the efforts of pharmaceuticals in producing relatively new antimicrobial drugs, they have resulted in a high rate of ...

Cinnamic‐Hydroxamic‐Acid Derivatives Exhibit Antibiotic, Anti‐Biofilm, and Supercoiling Relaxation Properties by Targeting Bacterial Nucleoid‐Associated Protein HU

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus emerged long before the introduction of methicillin into clinical practice

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2017
BackgroundThe spread of drug-resistant bacterial pathogens poses a major threat to global health. It is widely recognised that the widespread use of antibiotics has generated selective pressures that have driven the emergence of resistant strains ...

Visible Light‐Activated ZnO@CuO Coaxial Nanofibers Enhance Infected Skin Wound Healing Through Construction of p‐n Heterojunctions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coaxial ZnO@CuO nanofibers activated by visible light generate ROS through enhanced photocatalytic reactions driven by improved electron hole separation in the heterojunction. This strategy enables rapid antimicrobial activity and early infection control, thereby promoting the healing of MRSA infected and diabetic wounds with biosafe and easily ...

Phenotypic and Genotypic Characteristics of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) Related to Persistent Endovascular Infection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Persistent methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteremia (PB) represents an important subset of S. aureus infection and correlates with poor clinical outcomes.
