Oxaziridines: Versatile Reagents in Modern Organic Synthesis
Being capable of transferring an O atom and N‐group/atom, oxaziridines are considered multitasking agents. These are employed for diverse organic transformations, such as epoxidation of olefins, α‐ and γ‐hydroxylation/amination of carbonyl compounds, oxidation of sulfides, [3+2]cycloaddition with unsaturated systems.

Energetic dysregulations in psychotic disorders: Targets for new therapeutics
The present review synthesizes literature documenting aberrant energy production and use, specifically related to mitochondrial and redox dysregulation, in psychotic disorders. Findings from different levels of investigation—genetic, cellular, and in vivo imaging—converge on aberrant energy metabolism as a hallmark of psychotic disorders.

Repair of oxidized proteins: Identification of a new methionine sulfoxide reductase
cited By 229International audienceOxidation of methionine residues to methionine sulfoxide can lead to inactivation of proteins. Methionine sulfoxide reductase (MsrA) has been known for a long time, and its repairing function well characterized.

ABSTRACT After an initial evolution in a reducing environment, life got successively challenged by reactive oxygen species (ROS), especially during the great oxidation event (GOE) that followed the development of photosynthesis. Therefore, ROS are deeply intertwined into the physiological, morphological and transcriptional responses of most present‐day

Leishmania major methionine sulfoxide reductase A is required for resistance to oxidative stress and efficient replication in macrophages. [PDF]
Leishmania are protozoan parasites that proliferate within the phagolysome of mammalian macrophages. While a number of anti-oxidant systems in these parasites have been shown to protect against endogenous as well as host-generated reactive oxygen species,

Multiplexed Nanosensors for Real‐Time Monitoring of VOC‐Mediated Signalling Response in Plants
ABSTRACT To enhance crop performance, intercropping strategies leverage volatile organic compound (VOC)‐driven interactions with companion plants that constitutively emit VOCs. Despite the agricultural importance, the mechanisms and kinetics of VOC‐mediated sensory transduction in receiver plants eavesdropping on neighbouring non‐kin emitters remain ...

The Methionine Sulfoxide Reduction System: Selenium Utilization and Methionine Sulfoxide Reductase Enzymes and Their Functions [PDF]
Selenium is utilized in the methionine sulfoxide reduction system that occurs in most organisms. Methionine sulfoxide reductases (Msrs), MsrA and MsrB, are the enzymes responsible for this system. Msrs repair oxidatively damaged proteins, protect against oxidative stress, and regulate protein function, and have also been implicated in the aging process.

Substrate Binding in Free Methionine-R-sulfoxide Reductase [PDF]
Recently, the group of Chi and co-workers published the crystal structures of the reduced, substrate-bound, and oxidized forms of fRMsr from Staphylococcus aureus (1). In parallel, our group proposed a catalytic mechanism of free methionine-R-sulfoxide (Met-R-O) reductase (fRMsr) from Neisseria meningitidis based on crystal structure and biochemical ...
