ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Intra- and extra-cellular DNA damage by harmine and 9-methyl-harmine
It is known that β-carbolines are able to produce photosensitized damage in cell-free DNA, but there is little information on their effects on cellular DNA. Therefore, we have analyzed the DNA damage produced by harmine and 9-methyl-harmine under UVA irradiation in V79 cells, together with the associated generation of micronuclei and photocytotoxicity.

Background: Ovarian cancer has a poor prognosis, and DNA damage-response (DDR) genes are associated with both its occurrence and prognosis. However, previous studies have mostly focused on genetic mutations, with no clear conclusions on epigenetic ...

Relationship Between Neurologic Symptoms and Signs and FMR1 Genotype in Premutation Carriers
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Fragile X‐associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS) is the most severe late‐onset condition caused by a premutation in the FMR1 gene, characterized by expanded CGG triplet repeats of 55–200. Clinical presentations of FXTAS, including gait ataxia, kinetic tremor, cognitive decline, and rare Parkinsonism, are linked to ...

RAD18 methylation by the methyltransferase SETD6 attenuates DNA breaks
This study investigated the interaction between the SETD6 lysine methyltransferase and RAD18, a key protein in the DNA damage repair pathway. SETD6 belongs to the SET-domain-containing family of proteins, which are known to catalyze protein methylation ...

ABSTRACT Objective We aim to comprehensively analyze how regional tumor and edema characteristics are associated with clinical presentations and survival outcomes in a large cohort of glioblastoma patients. Methods Patients with IDH‐wildtype glioblastoma who received brain MRI from 2010 to 2023 were included.

Summary: It remains largely unclear how stem cells regulate bioenergetics and genome integrity to ensure tissue homeostasis. Here, our integrative gene analyses suggest that metabolic and genotoxic stresses may underlie the common functional defects of ...

Objective Race and household income impact outcomes in patients with rheumatic conditions; however, their role in pediatric antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)–associated vasculitis (AAV) remains poorly understood. We aimed to evaluate whether race and ethnicity and household income are associated with severe AAV disease and renal outcomes among
