Therapeutic effect of NEO400, perillyl alcohol conjugated to linoleic acid, in a mouse model of UV‐induced skin damage

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, Volume 101, Issue 2, Page 338-349, March/April 2025.
In the present work with mouse models, we demonstrate that a novel compound, NEO400, is able to profoundly protect skin against damage caused by UV radiation (UVR) when it is applied to skin post‐UVR exposure. In comparison, Aloe vera or linoleic acid are unable to achieve a similar level of protection.

Mitochondrial Acetyl‐CoA Synthetase 3 is Biosignature of Gastric Cancer Progression

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2018
Cholesterol affects cancer progression, and acetyl‐CoA is the primary cholesterogenesis substrate. The previous work has defined cholesterol bioflux via lipoprotein/receptor route is the gastric cancer (GCa) prognosis biosignature.

The Non-mevalonate Pathway of Isoprenoid Precursor Biosynthesis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2007
The recently discovered non-mevalonate biosynthetic route to isoprenoid precursors is an essential metabolic pathway in plants, apicomplexan parasites, and many species of bacteria. The pathway relies on eight enzymes exploiting different cofactors and metal ions. Structural and mechanistic data now exist for most components of the pathway though there

Glyphosate residues in soil alter herbivore‐induced plant volatiles and affect predatory insect behaviour

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Herbicide residues in soil disrupt plant–insect signalling, reducing the effectiveness of biological pest control. Abstract Plants under herbivore attack emit distinct blends of herbivore‐induced plant volatiles (HIPVs) which serve as signalling cues for predatory insects.

Fosmidomycin for the Treatment of Canine Otitis Externa: A Randomised, Double‐Blinded, Controlled ‘Split Body’ Clinical Trial

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Targeted antimicrobial therapy for canine otitis externa (OE) represents an opportunity for antimicrobial stewardship. Fosmidomycin selectively inhibits the non‐mevalonate pathway for isoprenoid biosynthesis utilised by canine‐adapted, and not human‐adapted, staphylococci.

Age‐Dependent Differences in Canakinumab Safety: A Comprehensive Pharmacovigilance Analysis Using the FAERS Database

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT While the efficacy of canakinumab, an anti‐interleukin‐1β monoclonal antibody, is well‐established, its safety profile, particularly across different age groups, remains inadequately explored. Using the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database, this study evaluated postmarketing safety by analyzing adverse event (AE) reports from ...

Multivalent feedback regulation of HMG CoA reductase, a control mechanism coordinating isoprenoid synthesis and cell growth.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1980
The availability of compactin (ML-236B), a potent competitive inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl Coenzyme A reductase, has permitted the demonstration of a hitherto unsuspected aspect of mevalonate metabolism and isoprenoid synthesis in cultured ...
