EnzRetro: Enzymatic Retrosynthetic Planning With Site‐Specific Reaction Edits Based on Sequence Generative Architecture

open access: yesExploration, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
EnzRetro bridges retrosynthesis planning and enzymatic engineering through site‐specific reaction edits. This end‐to‐end framework integrates pathway synthesis and enzyme identification into a unified process, achieving superior accuracy and enabling the efficient reconstruction of diverse biosynthetic pathways.

Reprogramming SREBP1‐dependent lipogenesis and inflammation in high‐risk breast with licochalcone A: A novel path to cancer prevention

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 7, Page 1927-1940, 1 April 2026.
What's new? Endocrine drugs repurposed from treatment protocols are the primary medications available for breast cancer (BC) prevention in at‐risk women. Adverse effects, however, significantly minimize uptake and prevention impact. Here, the authors investigated licochalcone A (LicA), a non‐endocrine anti‐inflammatory agent with reported hematologic ...

NDUFS1‐Mediated Mitochondrial Complex I Activity Maintains Pancreatic Cancer Stemness by Promoting PAX2 Hypomethylation

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Pancreatic cancer stem cells (CSCs) maintain stemness and tumorigenicity through NDUFS1‐mediated complex I activity, which is transcriptionally upregulated via the CD147‐STAT3 signaling axis. Enhanced oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and NAD+ production driven by this CD147‐NDUFS1 axis subsequently trigger the SIRT1‐DNMT1 metaboloepigenetic signaling

Computational Evaluation of Statin Analogs Targeting HMG‐CoA Reductase for Coronary Artery Disease Treatment

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
Molecular dynamics analysis of novel statin analogs shows that binding induces superior stabilization of HMG‐CoA reductase. As shown by the solvent‐accessible surface area profile, ligand‐induced rigidity offers a new, effective strategy for drug design. Cardiovascular diseases remain a leading cause of global mortality.

Severe Hypoxia Reduces Adenylyl Cyclase 6 Expression and Function in Bronchial Epithelial Cells

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 8, Issue 4, April 2026.
Adenylyl cyclase 6 (AC6) plays an important role in the generation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) in the lungs. In cystic fibrosis, excessive mucus production and reduced mucociliary clearance create regions of severe hypoxia that can affect cell functions.

p53 regulates Mevalonate Metabolic pathway

open access: yes, 2014
2012-2013 The mevalonate pathway is an important metabolic pathway implicated in multiple aspects of tumorigenesis. In this study, I provided evidences about genetic and pharmacologic perturbation of p53, which directly influenced expression of mevalonate pathway enzymes, including 3’-Hydroxy-3’-Methylglutaryl - CoenzymeA Reductase, Mevalonate Kinase ...

System level network data and models attack cancer drug resistance

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 8, Page 1640-1652, April 2026.
Drug resistance is responsible for >90% of cancer related deaths. Cancer drug resistance is a system level network phenomenon covering the entire cell. Small‐scale interactomes and signalling network models of drug resistance guide directed drug development.

The Crosstalk Mechanisms Between Ferroptosis and Pyroptosis and Their Applications in Diseases: From Molecular Networks to Clinical Strategies

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 8, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Ferroptosis and pyroptosis are two distinct forms of regulated cell death that play crucial roles in cancer, neurodegeneration, and inflammatory diseases. Ferroptosis is characterised by iron‐dependent lipid peroxidation, while pyroptosis is an inflammatory cell death mediated by gasdermin proteins.

Fruit respiration: putting alternative pathways into perspective

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 1, Page 54-73, April 2026.
Summary Over the past century, research has significantly advanced our understanding of fruit respiration, from (eco)physiological processes to molecular mechanisms. This review focuses on the functional relevance and regulatory roles of mitochondrial alternative respiratory pathways (ARPs) during fruit growth and ripening.
