Release of MICB Molecules by Tumor Cells: Mechanism and Soluble MICB in Sera of Cancer Patients

Human Immunology, 2006
MICA, a ligand of the activating immunoreceptor NKG2D, is released by tumor cells in a soluble form and can be detected in sera of tumor patients at significant levels. Soluble MICA has been proposed to counteract NKG2D-mediated immunosurveillance of tumors.

Transcriptional Regulation of MICA and MICB: A Novel Polymorphism in MICB Promoter Alters Transcriptional Regulation by Sp1 [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, 2007
AbstractMHC class I‐related genes A/B (MICA/B) are ligands of the NKG2D receptor expressed on T and NK cells. Their expression is highly restricted in normal tissues, but is up‐regulated in tumoral and infected cells. We show that the minimal promoter of both genes contains a CCAAT box, which binds to NF‐Y, and a GC box, which binds to Sp1, Sp3 and Sp4.

Characterization of the Major Histocompatibility Complex Class I Chain-Related Gene B (MICB) Polymorphism in a Northern Chinese Han Population: The Identification of a New MICB Allele, MICB*023

Human Immunology, 2011
Major histocompatibility complex class I chain-related gene B (MICB) has only been characterized for allelic variation in very few human populations. The MICB polymorphism remains largely unknown in Chinese populations. In this study, 104 healthy unrelated Han subjects recruited from central Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, northern China, were ...

MICB polymorphism in a southern Chinese Han population: The identification of two new MICB alleles, MICB∗005:06 and MICB∗026

Human Immunology, 2012
In this study, we investigated the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I chain-related gene B (MICB) allelic variation by sequence-based typing (SBT) in 201 healthy, unrelated Han subjects from Hunan province, southern China. Eleven MICB alleles were observed, among which MICB(∗)005:02 predominated with a frequency of 64.93%.

MICB Typing by PCR Amplification With Sequence Specific Primers

Immunogenetics, 2003
MICB is a member of the MIC (MHC class I chain-related gene) family. Sixteen MICB alleles have been described; however, the functional relevance and population distribution of MICB alleles or their potential association to disease has not yet been evaluated.

A novel MICB allele, MICB*004:02, identified in a western china Uyghur individual

HLA, 2021
The novel MICB*004:02 allele differs from the closest allele MICB*004:01by a synonymous mutation in exon 2.

Three novel MICB alleles

Tissue Antigens, 2000
Acknowledgments:This work is funded by the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust. M. P.‐R. is the recipient of a fellowship from Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social.Abstract:The two members of the MHC class I chain‐related (MIC) gene family, MICA and MICB, have been shown by several investigators to be polymorphic.

Identification of a novel MICB allele, MICB*030, by cloning and sequencing

International Journal of Immunogenetics, 2015
SummaryA novel MICB allele, MICB*030, has been identified in a healthy Chinese individual of Mongol ethnicity residing in northern China by polymerase chain reaction sequence‐based typing (PCR‐SBT) and confirmed by cloning and sequencing. MICB*030 was linked to HLA‐B*35.

On the MICA Deleted-MICB Null, HLA-B*4801 Haplotype

Tissue Antigens, 2000
Abstract:A 100‐kb deletion including the MICA gene was recently reported in the HLA‐B48 (B*4801)‐associated haplotype in Japanese. Interestingly, this MICA deletion is accompanied by a MICB null allele, MICB0107N. In order to further investigate the universality of the apparent tight linkage between these two events, we present data on high‐resolution ...
