Induction of micronuclei in murine lymphocytes by morphine

Environmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, 1995
AbstractAlthough individuals who abuse drugs are prone to an increased risk of malignancy, the mutagenic and carcinogenic potential of these agents has received relatively little attention. We report here on the potential of morphine to induce micronuclei in murine lymphocytes.

Electromagnetic Fields and Micronuclei

2019
Epidemiological findings indicate that exposure to high frequency electromagnetic fields (HF-ELF), which are used for mobile telecommunications, and also to extremely low frequency magnetic fields (from usage of electric current) may cause cancer in humans.

Micronuclei in irradiated meristems

Radiation Botany, 1963
The percentages of cells with micronuclei counted at intervals after acute x irradiation of the root meristems of Zea mays show two peaks. These two peaks occur clearly only after heavy doses (900 and 1800 rads) and only when restricted regions of the root tip are considered, not when squashes of whole tips are used.

Micronuclei as Intermediate End Points in Intervention

1992
Nearly a decade has passed since the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Diet, Nutrition and Cancer summarized the evidence for an association between dietary intake of food containing certain vitamins, micronutrients, and other components and a decrease in the development of cancer in humans (1).

[Micronuclei in lymphocytes of smokers].

Zhonghua jie he he hu xi za zhi = Zhonghua jiehe he huxi zazhi = Chinese journal of tuberculosis and respiratory diseases, 1990
Micronuclei of peripheral blood lymphocytes of 66 smokers and 88 non-smokers in healthy person were determined. The result is that the average presence rate of micronuclei is markedly higher in the former group than in the latter (P less than 0.01). The lymphocytes of micronuclei of peripheral blood in smokers also increased.
