Metatranscriptome Sequencing Reveals Insights into the Gene Expression and Functional Potential of Rumen Wall Bacteria

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Microbiota of the rumen wall constitute an important niche of rumen microbial ecology and their composition has been elucidated in different ruminants during the last years.

Annihilative fractals of coffee on milk formed by Rayleigh-Taylor instability [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
We have discovered a new fractal pattern, coffee exhibits on a horizontal surface, with a fractal dimension $1.88 \pm 0.06$, when a heavy coffee droplet interacts with the surface of lighter milk. Parts of coffee pattern on the surface disappear due to Rayleigh-Taylor instability, and the annihilative behavior produces the fractal pattern.

Effects of functional milk containing galactooligosaccharide, maltitol, and glucomannan on the production of hydrogen gas in the human intestine

open access: yesJournal of Functional Foods, 2017
Hydrogen gas (H2) reacts with strong oxidants, and the effectiveness of H2 inhalation or ingestion of H2 water has been demonstrated for many diseases. H2 produced by the intestinal microbiome from indigestible components is the major source of exogenous

Amino acid and mineral composition of milk from local Ukrainian cows and their crossbreedings with Brown Swiss and Montbeliarde breeds

open access: yesJournal of the Indonesian Tropical Animal Agriculture, 2018
The aim of this study was to analyze the mineral composition of milk, the amino acid composition of milk protein, and the productivity per 305 days of lactation in crossbred cows compared to pure-breed local Ukrainian analogues.

MiCull2 -- simulating mastitis transmission through milking order [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Contagious mastitis pathogens can be transmitted through milking. However, previously published simulation models, such as MiCull, have not directly taken this into account. We have reimplemented the MiCull model to model transmission of contagious mastitis pathogens through milking in a milking parlor. This additional complexity requires a substantial
