Milking the Alternatives: Understanding Coffee Consumers’ Preferences for Non-Dairy Milk

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences
Consumer interest in plant-based milk alternatives is growing, despite extra charges in coffeehouses. While much research exists on non-dairy alternatives, plant-based milks in coffee drinks remain understudied. This study examines consumer preferences and behaviors regarding milk alternatives in coffee, using the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF ...

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

"An Improved Estimation Method of Milk Yield and Fat Percent for Alternate Test Method "

open access: yes, 2005
In the alternate testing method, milk yield and constituents are measured alternately, either in the morning or the evening of the test day. Daily milk yield and constituents are then estimated from either the morning or evening value.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

One size does not fit all: An in vitro evaluation of the effects of bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate on human SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.

Influence of alternate-day collection on the bacteriological quality of refrigerated farm bulk milk [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Samples of refrigerated farm bulk milk of good bacteriological quality were taken weekly from 5 farms after 2 and 4 milkings, and plated for raw milk count, thermoduric and psychrophilic bacterial ...

An Application of Alternate Test Method in Milking Parlor System

open access: yes, 2006
The alternate test method in daily herd improvement program is beginning to extend in Hokkaido area of Japan in recent years. Since the alternate test method was not verified sufficiently in the milking parlor system, the prediction accuracy was examined

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Food Preferences in Lambs After Exposure to Flavors in Milk

open access: yes, 1992
This study determined whether experience with onion- or garlic-flavored milk affected intake of foods with those flavors. Orphaned lambs were exposed from 2 to 3 days of age for 50 days to either onion- or garlic-flavored milk at a 0.1% concentration ...
