Altered peripheral CRY1 gene expression may contribute to both organic and functional gastrointestinal disease

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gastrointestinal conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are characterized by alterations in physiological and immune functions. Given the circadian clock influences gastrointestinal physiology and immunity, we hypothesized that the peripheral circadian clock is altered in these patients and ...

Cancer-associated epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM; CD326) enables epidermal Langerhans cell motility and migration in vivo

open access: yes, 2012
After activation, Langerhans cells (LC), a distinct subpopulation of epidermis-resident dendritic cells, migrate from skin to lymph nodes where they regulate the magnitude and quality of immune responses initiated by epicutaneously applied antigens ...

Prickle4 Drives Microenvironmental Remodeling and Resistance to Parp Inhibition in IDH‐Mutant Glioma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 3, 14 January 2026.
IDH‐mutant gliomas exhibit sensitivity to PARP inhibitors (PARPi) owing to oncometabolite 2‐HG‐induced DNA repair defects. PARPi treatment induces resistance by upregulating Prickle4, which promotes VEGF‐driven angiogenesis. Combining PARPi veliparib with anti‐angiogenic lenvatinib blocks this pathway, causing tumor regression and prolonged survival in

Exploring the relationship between dietary patterns, eating behaviour and fat taste detection thresholds : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics at Massey University, Albany, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Dietary pattern analysis provides a unique opportunity to explore combinations of food intake in conjunction with factors known to affect dietary intake. Fat taste sensitivity is an emerging correlate of dietary intake and, when impaired, has

Morphine Tolerance Gated through EZH2‐Mediated Suppression of Trpc5 in Spinal GABAergic Interneurons in Male Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 1, 5 January 2026.
Chronic morphine suppresses Trpc5 in spinal GABAergic interneurons via EZH2‐mediated histone modification, reducing Ca2+ influx and GABA release. TRPC5 activation enhances morphine analgesia, while EZH2 inhibition restores efficacy and reverses tolerance.

PACAP Alleviates Paclitaxel‐Induced Peripheral Neuropathy by Targeting Oxidative Stress and Mitochondrial Damage via the PGC‐1α Pathway

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study demonstrates that PACAP alleviates paclitaxel‐induced peripheral neuropathy in mice. Its protective mechanism involves activating the PGC‐1α pathway to restore mitochondrial function and reduce oxidative stress in sensory neurons. Crucially, PACAP does not interfere with the anti‐tumor efficacy of paclitaxel.

Improving Compliance and Satisfaction With Quality Coffee Intake to Enhance Bowel Recovery After Colorectal Surgery: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aim Coffee after digestive surgery is a simple, safe, and inexpensive prevention for post‐operative ileus (POI). Several meta‐analyses have shown that coffee consumption in the post‐operative period may enhance bowel recovery. However, uptake in clinical routine is variable, standardization challenging and compliance unknown. We
