Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Quantifying dilution caused by execution efficiency

open access: yesREM: International Engineering Journal
In open pit mining, dilution is not always a factor systematically analyzed and calculated. Often it is only an adjusted number, for example, calculated or even empirically determined for a certain operational condition perpetuating along time in the ...

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Geotechnical and hydrogeological evaluation of artificial soils to remediate acid mine drainage and improve mine rehabilitation - An Australian case study

open access: yes, 2013
This project investigates the feasibility of combining overburden (OB) produced from an open cut brown coal mine, rejected wood chip waste from a Kraft Paper Mill (KMR), and industrially derived compost.

Use of Digital Twin Application Performed with CFDs Analysis in an Underground Mine to Interpret Events During and After a Mine Fire

open access: yesMining
Fires in underground mines pose significant risks to worker safety. In this study, a digital twin of an underground mine was created, and the heat, gas distribution, and airflow dynamics were investigated during and after the fire using computational ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Stochastic optimization of strategic mine planning of a hypothetical copper deposit through a parametrizable algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
To perform a surface mine planning it is necessary to start from an initial evaluation of the mineral resource. The open pit schedule evaluation is a key step in the process of planning the extraction activities of a mining company.

Effectiveness of optimization strategies to improve productivity and safety in open pit mines: protocol for a systematic review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Occupational and Environment Safety, 2019
Mining industry importance stems from the fact that it forms the basis of all materials used by humankind, including the agro-industrial sector, where products such as phosphates are behind a significant part of all modern agriculture.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...
