Switching Tube-Based MPC: Characterization of Minimum Dwell-Time for Feasible and Robustly Stable Switching [PDF]
We study the problem of characterizing mode dependent dwell-times that guarantee safe and stable operation of disturbed switching linear systems in an MPC framework. We assume the switching instances are not known a-priori, but instantly at the moment of switching.

Transforming Slum Dwellings into Better Livable Units: An Approach through Minimum Intervention
Urban migration is becoming an increasing issue in the cities in Bangladesh. Since the migrants are mostly poverty affected, they have no other opportunity than to move to urban slums, where, there is no decent infrastructure. The high density of built-forms and lack of understanding about ventilation strategies and thermal insulation are some of the ...

ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
