A statistically inferred microRNA network identifies breast cancer target miR-940 as an actin cytoskeleton regulator. [PDF]
AbstractMiRNAs are key regulators of gene expression. By binding to many genes, they create a complex network of gene co-regulation. Here, using a network-based approach, we identified miRNA hub groups by their close connections and common targets. In one cluster containing three miRNAs, miR-612, miR-661 and miR-940, the annotated functions of the co ...

Cancer-secreted hsa-miR-940 induces an osteoblastic phenotype in the bone metastatic microenvironment via targeting ARHGAP1 and FAM134A. [PDF]
Significance Prostate cancer is one of most common cancers in men worldwide, and osteoblastic bone metastasis is frequently observed in prostate cancer patients. However, the mechanisms responsible for the predominantly osteoblastic phenotype have not been fully elucidated.

Retaining MKP1 expression and attenuating JNK-mediated apoptosis by RIP1 for cisplatin resistance through miR-940 inhibition. [PDF]
The elucidation of chemoresistance mechanisms is important to improve cancer patient survival. In this report, we investigated the role and mechanism through which receptor-interacting protein 1 (RIP1), a mediator in cell survival and death signaling, participates in cancer's response to chemotherapy.

Plasma microRNA expression signature involving miR-548q, miR-630 and miR-940 as biomarkers for nasopharyngeal carcinoma detection. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Increasing studies have identified a series of circulating mircoRNAs (miRNAs) as biomarkers for disease detection due to their stability in the blood. The aim of the present study was to identify specific plasma miRNAs as potential biomarkers for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) detection.

Circulating miR-21, miR-378, and miR-940 increase in response to an acute exhaustive exercise in chronic heart failure patients. [PDF]
Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a major cause of hospitalizations, morbidity, and mortality in Western societies. In addition to optimal medical and device therapy, exercise training is an important adjunct treatment option for CHF patients. MicroRNAs (miRNAs, miRs) participate in a variety of physiological and pathological processes.

Ovarian cancer remains as one of the most threatening malignancies for females in the world. This study investigated the pivotal role of miR-940 in the progression of ovarian cancer and to reveal the possible molecular mechanism of its action. Ovarian cancer OVCAR3 cells were transfected with the miR-940 vector, miR-940 inhibitor, and/or small ...

The Effect of miR-940 Up-regultion on HbF and Erythroid Markers Expression in k-562 Cell Line [PDF]
Background: Fetal hemoglobin (α2γ2) is the main oxygen transport protein in the human fetus. Fetal hemoglobin is nearly completely replaced by hemoglobin A, except in a few thalassemia cases and sickle cell anemia.

Identification of novel exosomal miRNAs and their role in diagnosis and prognosis of triple negative breast cancer [PDF]
Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a clinically aggressive subtype characterized by poor prognosis and limited therapeutic options. Exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs), enclosed within secretory vesicles, have emerged as promising non-invasive biomarkers ...

MiR-940 inhibits the progression of NSCLC by targeting FAM83F.
We investigate whether miR-940 could target family sequence similarity 83 member F (FAM83F) and further inhibit the progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).The expression levels of miR-940 and FAM83F in tumor tissues and paracancerous tissues of 72 NSCLC patients were detected through quantitative real time-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR).
