PHENOTYPIC AND METABOLIC FEATURES OF CD4 AND CD8 T CELLS OF AN ELITE CONTROLLER

open access: yesProblems of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases
Background: People living with HIV (PLHIV) who are capable of long-term viral suppression in the absence of antiretroviral therapy (ART) are defined as elite controllers (EC).

Effects of disialoganglioside GD3 on the mitochondrial membrane potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2005
GD3 is an intracellular mediator of apoptotic signaling. Although GD3 is known to directly act on mitochondria, the dynamic responses of individual mitochondria to GD3 remain to be elucidated. In the current study, the membrane potential of single mitochondria is observed in the presence of GD3 or its analogues.

hUCMSC mitochondrial EVs confer neuroprotection after ischemia by Tom1l2-mediated mitochondrial fusion and Crls1–cardiolipin axis reprogramming

open access: yesRedox Biology
Mitochondrial dysfunction is a central driver of irreversible neuronal injury following ischemic stroke (IS); yet effective strategies to restore mitochondrial function and promote long-term neurological recovery remain limited.

Electrical homeostasis of the inner mitochondrial membrane potential

open access: yesPhysical Biology
Abstract The electric potential across the inner mitochondrial membrane must be maintained within certain bounds for the proper functioning of the cell. A feedback control mechanism for the homeostasis of this membrane potential is proposed whereby an increase in the electric field decreases the rate-limiting steps of the electron ...

Respiratory chain complexes in dynamic mitochondria display a patchy distribution in life cells

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Mitochondria, the main suppliers of cellular energy, are dynamic organelles that fuse and divide frequently. Constraining these processes impairs mitochondrial is closely linked to certain neurodegenerative diseases.

Metabolic consequences of neuronal mitochondrial fission ablation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1), the main mammalian mediator of mitochondrial fission, has an especially important role in neuronal development, such that its deletion gives rise to pre- or perinatal lethality.

Evaluation of mitochondrial membrane potential.

open access: yes, 2023
The panel of flow cytometry was stained with JC-1 for fresh control (A), frozen control (B), frozen trehalose (C), and frozen gentiobiose (D). The top right quadrant represents the percentage of values showing the proportion of sperm with high ...

Imaging Reversible Mitochondrial Membrane Potential Dynamics with a Small Molecule, Permeable, Internally Redistributing for Inner Membrane Targeting Rhodamine Voltage Reporter

open access: yes, 2020
Mitochondria are the site of aerobic respiration, producing ATP via oxidative phosphorylation as protons flow down their electrochemical gradient through ATP synthase.

Mechanisms of hepatocellular toxicity associated with dronedarone and other mitochondrial toxicants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Idiosyncratic drug-induced liver injury is a rare toxic event that typically occurs at therapeutic doses, which are generally safe to the majority of patients.

Arabidopsis thaliana Embryo Sac Mitochondrial Membrane Potential Stain

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2014
The aim of this experiment is to study mitochondrial functional status in Arabidopsis embryo sacs using the membrane potential indicator JC-1. Changes in the membrane potential are presumed to be due to the opening of the mitochondrial permeability ...
