“BASOLATERAL” AND MITOCHONDRIAL MEMBRANE TRANSPORT DEFECT IN THE HEPATOCYTES IN LYSINURIC PROTEIN INTOLERANCE

Acta Paediatrica, 1983
ABSTRACT. In lysinuric protein intolerance, diamino acid transport is defective at the basolateral membrane of the jejunal and renotubular epithelia. The plasma has depressed concentrations of ornithine and arginine but, in contrast, supranormal levels of another urea cycle intermediate, citrulline.

Mitochondrial phosphate transport and the N-ethylmaleimide binding proteins of the inner membrane

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1978
Mitochondria have been prepared from the flight muscles of mature blow-flies (Sarcophaga bullata). Phosphate transport by these mitochondria, determined by rates of passive swelling in ammonium phosphate, is sensitive to inhibition by N-ethylmaleimide. 20 nmol of N-ethylmaleimide/nmol cytochrome A inhibit the swelling by 90%.

Defects of Mitochondrial Membrane-Bound Transport Proteins in Human Mitochondriopathies: A Biochemical Approach

1995
In part of the patients with a disturbance in the mitochondrial energy metabolism, the defect can not be ascribed to a default in the respiratory chain, citric acid cycle or pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. Incubations of muscle mitochondria with various substrates under different conditions render it likely that defects in transport systems in the ...

Proton transport across inner mitochondrial membrane assisted with UCP2 protein [PDF]

open access: possible, 2019
Proton transport across mitochondrial cell membranes is one of the main metabolic processes in living organism. This transfer from mitochondrial intermembrane space to the mitochondrial matrix across the inner mitochondrial membrane is caused by the existence of the transmembrane proton gradient.1 It is known that long chain fatty acids (LCFA) together

Consequences of Defective Vitamin A Transportation on Mitochondrial Membrane Integrity during Protein Depletion

Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism, 1986
The relationships between the structural integrity and functionality of rat liver mitochondrial membranes, and different levels of dietary protein and vitamin A transportation during protein depletion in animals have been investigated. Although the vitamin A content of the protein-depleted diet was 1680 +/- 35 IU/kg diet, and that of the control diet ...

Mitochondrial phosphate transport: Correlation between alkylation of membrane proteins with N-[3H]ethylmaleimide and inhibition of transport

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1978
Abstract N-ethylmaleimide inhibits the mitochondrial phosphate carrier. Mitochondria were titrated with N-[ 3 H]ethylmaleimide, dissolved in dodecylsulfate-mercaptoethanol, and their proteins separated on dodecylsulfate-polyacrylamide gels. While the phosphate transport is essentially insensitive to low concentrations of N-ethylmaleimide, the six ...

Protein Transport into and Across the Mitochondrial Outer Membrane: Recognition, Insertion and Translocation of Preproteins

1996
The compartmentation of cells requires the accurate subcellular sorting of proteins after their synthesis on cytoplasmic ribosomes. Any cellular membrane possesses a distinct transport machinery which specifically recognizes, inserts and translocates precursor proteins destined for this particular membrane or organelle (for reviews see articles in ...

Sequence of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae YTP1 gene encoding a deduced novel type-III integral membrane protein with domains of sequence similarity to mitochondrial electron-transport enzymes

Gene, 1996
The nucleotide sequence is reported for the Saccharomyces cerevisiae YTP1 (yeast putative transmembrane (TM) protein) gene, encoding a novel deduced protein of 459 amino acids (aa) in length (51 643 Da). The Ytp1 protein appears by computer analysis (hydropathy plots in conjunction with the combined predictions of several Internet on-line programs that
