Optimization of MLVA loci combination using metaheuristic methods
Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, 2023Multilocus variable number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA) utilizes short DNA repeat polymorphism in genomes, which is termed variable number tandem repeat (VNTR), to differentiate closely related organisms. One research challenge is to find an optimal set of VNTR to distinguish different members accurately.

A software tool for the selection of Tandem Repeats for MLVA analysis
2013 35th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2013DNA fingerprinting is a reliable tool for identifying, tracing and characterizing bacterial clonal population structure. A recent technique is given by the Multiple Loci VNTR Analysis (MLVA), where VNTR denotes Variable Number of Tandem Repeats, that meets the need for fast and reliable typing methods by combining the polymorphic nature of tandem ...

MLVA genotyping of human Brucella isolates from Peru
Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2009Recent human Brucella melitensis isolates from Peru were genotyped by multiple locus variable number repeat analysis. All 24 isolates originated from hospitalized patients living in the central part of Peru and consisted of six genomic groups comprising two to four isolates and nine unique genotypes.

Genetic Comparison of Brucella canis Isolates by the MLVA Assay in South Korea
The multiple-locus VNTR analysis (MLVA) assay is a method frequently employed as a molecular epidemiological tool for Brucella genetic fingerprinting. The purpose of this study was to assess the genotyping of 77 B. canis isolates from 14 different dog breeding farms in Korea by the MLVA assay and to compare the epidemiological relationships between the

Multilocus variable number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA) of Streptococcus pyogenes
Journal of Microbiological Methods, 2011We tested 21 polymorphic loci encoded by the genome of Streptococcus pyogenes (group A Streptococcus, GAS). Seven of them were chosen for the MLVA scheme. The primer pairs, designed for selected loci, detect from few to several alleles, and the method has a Simpson's Index of diversity of 0.957.

In silico MLVA Analysis of Brucella melitensis from Human and Livestock in Iran
Current MicrobiologyBrucellosis, a zoonotic disease caused by Brucella spp. globally, is of great significance not only to livestock but also to public health. The most significant of the twelve species is Brucella melitensis. This article is devoted to the endemic region of Iran and aims to uncover the molecular epidemiology of B. melitensis.

A minisatellite-based MLVA scheme for typing Xanthomonas citri pv.mangiferaeindicae
2008Molecular typing techniques can be useful for improving our understanding on the epidemiology of bacterial plant pathogens. MLVA (multi-locus variable number of tandem repeats analysis) is suitable for typing bacterial species or pathovars with low overall genetic diversity. We evaluated the MLVA scheme developed for Xanthomonas citri pv.
