Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Environmental Assumptions in System Design: A Phenomenon-Based and Operational Perspective

open access: yesIEEE Access
Invalid environment assumptions have been identified as a root cause of failures in many systems. Industrial experience shows that it is often easier to overlook environmental behaviors than system specifications, largely because environment assumptions ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Impact of Petri Nets on System-of-Systems Engineering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The successful engineering of a large-scale system-of-systems project towards deterministic behaviour depends on integrating autonomous components using international communications standards in accordance with dynamic requirements.

Constructing True Model-Based Requirements in SysML

open access: yesSystems, 2019
Some authors suggest that transitioning requirements engineering from the traditional statements in natural language with shall clauses to model-based requirements within a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment could improve communication ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Rapid and accurate reverse engineering of geometry based on a multi-sensor system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The reduction of the lead time in measurement and reverse engineering, and the increased requirements in terms of accuracy and flexibility, have resulted in a great deal of research effort aimed at developing and implementing multi-sensor systems.

Early Design Space Exploration with Model-Based System Engineering and Set-Based Design

open access: yesSystems, 2018
Adequately exploring the tradespace in the early system design phase is important to determine the best design concepts to pursue in the next life cycle stage. Tradespace exploration (TSE) often uses trade-off analysis.
