Modulation efficiency of LiNbO3 waveguide electro-optic intensity modulator operating at high microwave frequency

open access: yes, 2009
The modulation efficiency, at high-frequency microwave modulation, of a LiNbO3 waveguide electro-optic modulator is shown to be degraded severely, especially when it is used as a frequency translator in a Brillouin-distributed fiber-sensing system.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Advancing aquatic biodiversity assessments of invertebrates using eDNA metabarcoding: A systematic evaluation of primers for marine and freshwater communities

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution
Invertebrate richness and community composition are key indicators of aquatic ecosystem health. Compared with morphotaxonomy‐based survey methods, DNA metabarcoding is a highly efficient and scalable biomonitoring approach that has become increasingly ...

An extensive photometric study of the Blazhko RR Lyrae star RZ Lyr

open access: yes, 2012
The analysis of recent, extended multicolour CCD and archive photoelectric, photographic and visual observations has revealed several important properties of RZ Lyr, an RRab-type variable exhibiting large-amplitude Blazhko modulation. On the time-base of

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Raman spectra of bilayer graphene covered with Poly(methyl methacrylate) thin film

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2012
The Raman spectra of bilayer graphene covered with poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) were investigated. Both the G and 2D peaks of PMMA-coated graphene were stiff and broad compared with those of uncovered graphene.

An extensive photometric study of the Blazhko RR Lyrae star MW Lyr: II. Changes in the physical parameters

open access: yes, 2009
The analysis of the multicolour photometric observations of MW Lyr, a large modulation amplitude Blazhko variable, shows for the first time how the mean global physical parameters vary during the Blazhko cycle.
