2-((E)-{[3-(1H-Imidazol-1-yl)propyl]imino}methyl)-4-[(E)-(2-methylphenyl)diazenyl]phenol

open access: yesIUCrData, 2017
In the title compound, C20H21N5O, an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond forms between the –OH substituent of the phenol ring and the adjacent iminomethyl N atom, enclosing an S6 ring.

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

MEP Pathway: First-Synthesized IspH-Directed Prodrugs with Potent Antimycobacterial Activity

open access: yesMicroorganisms
We report the first synthesis of IspH-directed prodrugs targeting the terminal enzyme of the 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate (MEP) pathway, (E)-4-hydroxy-3-methylbut-2-enyl diphosphate reductase (IspH or LytB).

The microbiome in human skin aging

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Different Biological Activities of Histidine-Rich Peptides Are Favored by Variations in Their Design

open access: yesToxins, 2021
The protein transduction and antimicrobial activities of histidine-rich designer peptides were investigated as a function of their sequence and compared to gene transfection, lentivirus transduction and calcein release activities.

Lysyl oxidase (LOX)‐mediated remodeling of the extracellular matrix

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The lysyl oxidase (LOX) family of enzymes drives extracellular matrix remodeling by oxidizing collagen, elastin, and fibronectin, promoting covalent cross‐link formation. This activity regulates tissue architecture and mechanical properties, while its dysregulation contributes to fibrosis, cardiovascular disease, glaucoma, connective tissue disorders ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.
