Molecular contamination study by interaction of a molecular beam with a platinum surface [PDF]

open access: yes
The capability of molecular beam scattering from a solid surface is analyzed for identification of molecular contamination of the surface. The design and setup of the molecular beam source and the measuring setup for the application of a phase sensitive ...

A Bayesian method for identification of stock mixtures from molecular marker data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Molecular markers have been demonstrated to be useful for the estimation of stock mixture proportions where the origin of individuals is determined from baseline samples.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

CCK2R regulates METH-induced CPP acquisition within VTA-BLA-BNST circuit in male mice

open access: yesTranslational Psychiatry
Methamphetamine (METH) addiction is a severe public health issue driven by maladaptive neuroplasticity in reward circuits. Cholecystokinin (CCK), a neuropeptide abundant in the ventral tegmental area (VTA), modulates addiction-related behaviors through ...

Sequence analysis of the second internal Transcribed spacer (ITS2) region of rDNA for species identification of trichostrongylus nematodes isolated from domestic livestock in Iran [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Infectivity of herbivores with Trichostrongylus nematodes is widespread in many countries, having a major economic impact on breeding, survivability, and productivity of domestic livestock.

Comment on "Feshbach-Einstein Condensates" by V. G. Rousseau and P. J. H. Denteneer

open access: yes, 2010
In a recent paper (Phys. Rev. Lett. 102, 015301 (2009), arXiv:0810.3763) Rousseau and Denteneer claim that an unconventional "super-Mott" (SM) phase is realized by bosons trapped in an optical lattice close to a Feshbach resonance with a molecular state.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Counting absolute number of molecules using unique molecular identifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Advances in molecular biology have made it easy to identify different DNA or RNA species and to copy them. Identification of nucleic acid species can be accomplished by reading the DNA sequence; currently millions of molecules can be sequenced in a ...

Molecular species identification boosts bat diversity.

open access: yesFrontiers in zoology, 2007
The lack of obvious morphological differences between species impedes the identification of species in many groups of organisms. Meanwhile, DNA-based approaches are increasingly used to survey biological diversity. In this study we show that sequencing the mitochondrial protein-coding gene NADH dehydrogenase, subunit 1 (nd1) from 534 bats of the ...
