Cellular Motors for Molecular Manufacturing [PDF]
AbstractCells are composed of macromolecular structures of various sizes that act individually or collectively to maintain their viability and perform their function within the organism. This review focuses on one structure, the microtubule, and one of the motor proteins that move along it, conventional kinesin (kinesin 1).

First-passage times in complex energy landscapes: a case study with nonmuscle myosin II assembly
Complex energy landscapes often arise in biological systems, e.g. for protein folding, biochemical reactions, or intracellular transport processes. Their physical effects are frequently reflected in the first-passage times (FPTs) arising from these ...

Transport characteristics of molecular motors [PDF]
Properties of transport of molecular motors are investigated. A simplified model based on the concept of Brownian ratchets is applied. We analyze a stochastic equation of motion by means of numerical methods. The transport is systematically studied with respect to its energetic efficiency and quality expressed by an effective diffusion coefficient.

Molecular motors in nanobiotechnology: Protein and DNA based molecular motors: A review
Molecular motor can be defined as the collection of a separate number of molecular features (that is, a supramolecular structure) which has been developed to carry out a function through the mechanical movements of its components, which occurs when it is
