INHIBITION OF INTERLEUKIN 6 IN IMMUNE INFLAMMATORY RHEUMATIC DISEASES: ACHIEVEMENTS, PROSPECTS, AND HOPES [PDF]

open access: yesНаучно-практическая ревматология, 2018
Much attention has been recently paid to the study of interleukin 6 (IL-6) among the cytokines involved in the development of immune inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IIRDs).

Clinical improvement in a patient with neuromyelitis optica following therapy with the anti-IL-6 receptor monoclonal antibody tocilizumab [PDF]

open access: yesModern Rheumatology, 2013
Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is a disabling autoimmune disease associated with an elevation of anti-aquaporin 4 (AQP4) autoantibodies. Here, we present a case with NMO who responded to monthly administration of the anti-IL-6 receptor antibody tocilizumab.

Exposure‐Exposure Relationship of Tocilizumab, an Anti–IL‐6 Receptor Monoclonal Antibody, in a Large Population of Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 2013
AbstractRelationships between tocilizumab exposure and response were evaluated using data from 4 phase III studies. Increased tocilizumab exposure was associated with improvements in Disease Activity Score using 28 joints (DAS28) and American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria and with a decrease in inflammation markers.

Safety and efficacy of tocilizumab, an anti-IL-6-receptor monoclonal antibody, in patients with polyarticular-course juvenile idiopathic arthritis [PDF]

open access: yesModern Rheumatology, 2011
We evaluated the safety and efficacy of tocilizumab in polyarticular-course juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA) with polyarticular or oligoarticular onset. Patients received 8 mg/kg tocilizumab every 4 weeks in the open-label studies: initial study (to week 12) and then an extension study (at least 48 weeks).

FRI0114 EFFICACY OF LEVILIMAB, NOVEL MONOCLONAL ANTI-IL-6 RECEPTOR ANTIBODY, IN COMBINATION WITH METHOTREXATE IN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS: 1-YEAR RESULTS OF PHASE 2 AURORA STUDY [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the Rheumatic Diseases, 2020
Background: Previously, 12-week results of phase 2 clinical study of levilimab (LVL) in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have been reported1. The study has met the primary endpoint at W12 confirming that treatment with LVL 162 mg SC + methotrexate (MTX) either QW or Q2W is superior to MTX alone in patients with RA and inadequate response

Lymphoma and myeloma cell resistance to cytotoxic agents and ionizing radiations is not affected by exposure to anti-IL-6 antibody. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2009
BACKGROUND:Production of high levels of IL-6 is often correlated with resistance to cytotoxics or ionizing radiations, in cancer cell lines as in various cancer patients.

DEVELOPMENTS OF RUSSIAN ORIGINAL BIOLOGICAL AGENTS FOR THE TREATMENT OF IMMUNOINFLAMMATORY RHEUMATIC DISEASES

open access: yesНаучно-практическая ревматология, 2017
The paper analyzes the key biological effects of cytokines that play a central role in the pathogenesis of immunoinflammatory rheumatic diseases. Special attention is drawn to major proinflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α ...

Optimisation of anti-interleukin-6 therapy: Precision medicine through mathematical modelling

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
BackgroundDysregulated interleukin (IL)-6 production can be characterised by the levels present, the kinetics of its rise and its inappropriate location. Rapid, excessive IL-6 production can exacerbate tissue damage in vital organs.
