Immunohistochemical detection of monocytes by the antiserum specific to monocytic esterase. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry, 1985
An antiserum specific to esterase Ib was produced in a rabbit. The antigen-antibody reaction was visualized by the strong esterase activity in the precipitin band in Ouchterlony double diffusion and immunoelectrophoresis. Immunohistochemical procedure demonstrated strong staining in the monocyte-infiltrated splenic sections and tissue sections of true

Integration of single‐cell and bulk RNA‐sequencing data reveals the prognostic potential of epithelial gene markers for prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is a leading malignancy with significant clinical heterogeneity in men. An 11‐gene signature derived from dysregulated epithelial cell markers effectively predicted biochemical recurrence‐free survival in patients who underwent radical surgery or radiotherapy.

Monocyte and T-lymphocyte trans-endothelial migration in relation to cardiovascular disease: some alternative boundary conditions in a model recently proposed by Little et al. (PLoS Comput Biol 2009 5(10) e1000539) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
We consider a slight modification to the monocyte and T-lymphocyte boundary conditions of Little et al. (PLoS Comput Biol 2009 5(10) e1000539) and derive alternative parameter estimates. No changes to the results and conclusions of the paper of Little et al. (PLoS Comput Biol 2009 5(10) e1000539) are implied.

Peripheral blood leukocyte signatures as biomarkers in relapsed ovarian cancer patients receiving combined anti‐CD73/anti‐PD‐L1 immunotherapy in arm A of the NSGO‐OV‐UMB1/ENGOT‐OV30 trial

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using mass cytometry, we analyzed serial blood samples from patients with relapsed epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) treated with oleclumab–durvalumab combination immunotherapy in the NSGO‐OV‐UMB1/ENGOT‐OV30 trial. Our analysis identified potential predictive, monitoring, and response biomarkers detectable through liquid biopsy. These findings facilitate

Bacille Calmette-Guérin induces NOD2-dependent nonspecific protection from reinfection via epigenetic reprogramming of monocytes

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2012
Adaptive features of innate immunity, recently described as “trained immunity,” have been documented in plants, invertebrate animals, and mice, but not yet in humans.

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...

In vivo Differentiation of Human Monocytes

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
Circulating monocytes can infiltrate mucosal or inflamed tissues where they differentiate into either macrophages or dendritic cells. This paradigm is supported by numerous studies conducted in mice and in different in vitro settings for human cells ...

Hold On, the Monocytes Are Coming! [PDF]

open access: yesImmunity, 2007
The role that monocyte-derived dendritic cells play in vivo remains enigmatic. León et al. (2007) now show that these cells develop "on demand" at a site of Leishmania infection to promote a life-saving T helper 1 immune response.

Classification of acute myeloid leukemia based on multi‐omics and prognosis prediction value

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Unsupervised AML Multi‐Omics Classification System (UAMOCS) integrates genomic, methylation, and transcriptomic data to categorize AML patients into three subtypes (UAMOCS1‐3). This classification reveals clinical relevance, highlighting immune and chromosomal characteristics, prognosis, and therapeutic vulnerabilities.
