Simple Method for Derivatization of Monoglycerides and Diglycerides

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1988
Abstract A method has been developed for derivatization of monoglycerides and diglycerides to their propyl esters by using propionic anhydride in the presence of pyridine. The derivatives are volatile and thus can be separated and identified by gas chromatography (GC). Completion of the reaction is monitored by thin-layer chromatography.

Regulation of triglyceride biosynthesis in adipose and intestinal tissue

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1973
The synthesis of phosphatidic acid and di- and triglycerides via the glycerol-3-phosphate pathway is markedly inhibited by 2-monooleyl ether in microsomal and whole cell preparations obtained from adipose and intestinal tissue.

Synthesis, characterization and antibacterial activity of novel poly(silyl ether)s based on palm and soy oils

open access: yesPolímeros, 2018
In this research, palm oil and soy oil were used as a natural polyol to prepare novel poly(silyl ether)s. Palm oil and soy oil were first converted to monoglyceride by one step via alcoholysis process in the presence of 0.1% CaO as a catalyst.

Impacts of Monoglycerides on Intestinal Integrity and Disease Resistance of Weaned Pigs [PDF]

open access: yes
Monoglycerides, glycerol monoesters of fatty acids, offer several advantages over organic acids by increasing stability, reducing unpleasant odors, and enabling the gradual release of bioactive substances (i.e., organic fatty acids) throughout the ...

Lipid classes of in vitro cultivar of Pakistani citrus

open access: yesJournal of Saudi Chemical Society, 2009
The in vitro cultivar of citrus contained 18.0% lipids after 12 weeks of germination of seed. The lipid was analyzed by GC procedure for its fatty acid composition.

Separation of lipid classes by chromatography on florisil*

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1961
Chromatography on Florisil® (activated magnesium silicate) was used to separate model compounds representative of hydrocarbons, cholesterol esters, triglycerides, free sterols, diglycerides, monoglycerides, and free fatty acids.

Derivatives of monoglycerides and ligation of CD45 as programmed cell death inducers in mammalian cells

open access: yes, 2002
Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, is a naturally occurring process essential for development and tissue homeostasis, that needs to be tightly regulated since too much or too little cell death may lead to several human pathologies such as cancer ...

Combined effects of thermal treatments and monoglycerides on Listeria monocytogenes survival in model system

open access: yes, 2004
The antimicrobial activity of various fatty acids or monoglycerides is well known and it has been exploited mainly for medical purposes to control infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrheae and Candida albicans.
