Effects of diets rich in monounsaturated fatty acids on plasma lipoproteins—the Jerusalem Nutrition Study. II Monounsaturated fatty acids vs carbohydrates

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1992
Seventeen male Yeshiva students were randomly allocated to a crossover study with two 12-wk dietary periods of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) vs a carbohydrate (CHO)-rich diet while concentrations of saturated (SFAs) and polyunsaturated (PUFAs) fatty acids were kept similar.

Monounsaturated fatty acids, plasma cholesterol, and coronary heart disease

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1987
A brief technical review examines the importance of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA's) in controlling low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels, giving attention to the control of LDL levels, in general, as such control is influenced both by genetics and diet.

Maleinisation of monounsaturated fatty acids by Rh‐catalysis

European Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, 2014
The Rhodium catalyzed maleinisation of monounsaturated fatty acids leads to cyclic 3,6‐disubstituted‐1,2,3,6‐tetrahydro‐phthalic acid derivatives and acyclic maleinated byproducts, which are similar to the products formed by Ene‐reaction. Two different catalysts, RhCl3(H2O)3 and Rh(OAc)2, were investigated.

Metabolic aspects of positional monounsaturated fatty acids isomers

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1981
AbstractAbsorption and distribution of positionalcis andtrans octadecenoic acid isomers in lipids from rat, egg and human tissues are reviewed. Selected data on enzyme, single‐cell, and whole‐animal studies with positional octadecenoic acid isomers are summarized and compared.

Monounsaturated Fatty Acids and Cholesterol Metabolism: Implications for Dietary Recommendations

The Journal of Nutrition, 1989
Dietary fat is known to affect serum concentrations of total and lipoprotein cholesterol. However, all components of dietary triglycerides--saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fatty acids--do not have identical effects on serum cholesterol levels.

Dietary monounsaturated fatty acids and liver cholesterol.

Artery, 1988
Evidence is accumulating that diets rich in monounsaturated fatty acids might be of value in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and prevention of coronary heart disease. This communication shows that such diets cause increased concentrations of liver cholesterol in rats and rabbits. It is not known whether this effect is harmful.
