Myc and mRNA capping

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Regulatory Mechanisms, 2015
c-Myc is upregulated in response to growth factors and transmits the signal to proliferate by altering the gene expression landscape. When genetic alterations result in growth factor-independent c-Myc expression, it can become an oncogene. The majority of human tumour types exhibit a degree of c-Myc deregulation, resulting in unrestrained cell ...

AUGcontext DB: a comprehensive catalog of the mRNA AUG initiator codon context across eukaryotes

open access: yesRNA Biology
The mRNA translation defines the composition of the cell proteome in all forms of life and diseases. In this process, precise selection of the mRNA translation initiation site (TIS) is crucial, as it establishes the correct open reading frame for triplet

MicroRNA: a clinician’s view of the state of the problem. Part 3: MicroRNA and approaches to the treatment of cardiovascular diseases

open access: yesЕвразийский Кардиологический Журнал, 2023
Cardiovascular diseases  are one of the most common  causes of death in both developing and developed countries of the world. Despite the improvement in primary prevention, the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases has continued to grow  in recent years.

Evading innate immunity in nonviral mRNA delivery : don't shoot the messenger [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In de field of non-viral gene therapy, in vitro transcribed (IVT) mRNA has emerged as a promising tool for the delivery of genetic information. Over the past few years it has become widely known the introduction of IVT mRNA into mammalian cells elicits ...

An ensemble method to predict target genes and pathways in uveal melanoma

open access: yesOpen Life Sciences, 2018
This work proposes to predict target genes and pathways for uveal melanoma (UM) based on an ensemble method and pathway analyses. Methods: The ensemble method integrated a correlation method (Pearson correlation coefficient, PCC), a causal inference ...

Ornithine Decarboxylase mRNA is Stabilized in an mTORC1-dependent Manner in Ras-transformed Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Upon Ras activation, ODC (ornithine decarboxylase) is markedly induced, and numerous studies suggest that ODC expression is controlled by Ras effector pathways. ODC is therefore a potential target in the treatment and prevention of Ras-driven tumours. In

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

The gene YEF3 function encoding translation elongation factor eEF3 is partially conserved across fungi

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
IntroductionTranslation is a fundamental process of life. In eukaryotes, the elongation step of translation is highly conserved and is driven by eukaryotic translation elongation factors (eEF)1A and eEF2.

Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.
