MT1 and MT2 melatonin receptors are expressed in nonoverlapping neuronal populations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pineal Research, 2019
AbstractMelatonin (MLT) exerts its physiological effects principally through two high‐affinity membrane receptors MT1 and MT2. Understanding the exact mechanism of MLT action necessitates the use of highly selective agonists/antagonists to stimulate/inhibit a given MLT receptor. The respective distribution of MT1 and MT2 within the CNS and elsewhere is

Validation of clinically related aging models based on enamel wear

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Physiological and erosive wear reported in clinical studies were reviewed, and in vitro aging models were developed to simulate and compare the effect of aging on human teeth with the review data obtained from clinical studies. Methods A review of clinical studies and randomized clinical trials that quantify enamel wear was performed ...

A Meta‐Analysis of the Effects of Acute Sleep Deprivation on the Cortical Transcriptome in Rodent Models

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
How does sleep deprivation affect the brain? We performed a meta‐analysis of publicly available transcriptional profiling datasets characterising the effects of sleep deprivation on cortical gene expression (n = 293 mice, 16,290 genes) and validated our results in an independent sample (n = 222 mice).

Effects of Agomelatine on Sleep Across Populations: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Agomelatine, a melatoninergic antidepressant, is often prescribed to improve sleep disturbance, though meta‐analytic evidence is currently lacking. This systematic review and meta‐analysis assessed its efficacy and tolerability in sleep outcomes compared to placebo.

Escape Body: A Gamified Problem‐Based Learning Project in Primary Education

open access: yesSchool Science and Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Young learners' lack of motivation to study scientific‐related subjects nowadays is a topic of concern in our society. This study followed a quasi‐experimental design with a predominantly quantitative methods approach, complemented by qualitative data, to investigate how the combination of gamified and problem‐based learning could influence ...

MT2-MMP induces proteolysis and leads to EMT in carcinomas

open access: yesOncotarget, 2016
Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is critical for carcinoma invasiveness and metastasis. To investigate the role of membrane-type-2 matrix metalloproteinase (MT2-MMP) in EMT, we generated lentiviral constructs of wild-type (WT) and an inactive Glu260Ala (E260A) mutant MT2-MMP and derived stably transfected HCT116 and A549 cell lines.

The role of agomelatine in appetite regulation and body weight in rats

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract The hypothalamic nuclei play a central role in the synthesis of anorexigenic and orexigenic neuropeptides, which are regulated by peripheral hormones, like leptin and ghrelin. Melatonergic receptors (MT1/MT2) are prominently expressed in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus – an essential hub for appetite control – and in peripheral ...

Superpartner mass measurements with 1D decomposed MT2

open access: yes, 2009
We propose a new model-independent technique for mass measurements in missing energy events at hadron colliders. We illustrate our method with the most challenging case of a short, single-step decay chain. We consider inclusive same-sign chargino pair production in supersymmetry, followed by leptonic decays to sneutrinos.

Melatonin and the Dental Pulp: A Scoping Review

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 59, Issue 4, Page 590-613, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background In general medicine, melatonin is known to enhance wound healing and promote stem cell differentiation. Its potential relevance in endodontics, however, remains underexplored. Objectives This scoping review aimed to systematically assess the available evidence on the effects of melatonin (a) on dental pulp tissue and (b) on human ...

Identification of Metallothionein Gene in Human Plasma: A Molecular Analysis of Cadmium and Lead Pollution in Gas Station Environment

open access: yesJurnal Pendidikan IPA Indonesia, 2018
Metallothionein (MTs) is a protein that binds to metals, cysteine-rich and has low molecular weights. Metallothionein binds metals and has some essential cellular functions, such as transportation, storage, and metal detoxification.
