Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection Biomarkers for High‐Risk Individuals: Insights From the PRECEDE Consortium

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 8, Page 1873-1883, 15 October 2026.
ABSTRACT Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains one of the deadliest cancers due to its asymptomatic progression, late‐stage diagnosis, and treatment resistance. Efforts in early detection have centered on identifying imaging features and liquid biopsy biomarkers capable of detecting PDAC and its high‐grade precursors before clinical symptoms ...

INDICATORS OF MUC 5AC AND MUC 1 MUCOPOLYSACCHARIDE EXPRESSION IN THE NASAL MUCOSA OF PATIENTS WITH POSTNASAL DRIP SYNDROME AND NASAL SEPTUM DEVIATION

open access: yesКлінічна та профілактична медицина
Introduction. Determining the cause of postnasal drip syndrome can be quite challenging. Nasal septum deformation has been recognized as one possible factor.

MUC5AC mucin gene regulation in pancreatic cancer cells

open access: yesInternational Journal of Oncology, 2006
MUC5AC is a secretory mucin normally expressed by the surface mucous cells of the human stomach and in the bronchial tract. It is absent from normal pancreas, but de novo expression of this mucin occurs in early-stage pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasias and in the invasive ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas, prompting this study of MUC5AC gene ...

Gallstone formation and hepatobiliary tumour risk: Clinical implications of the bile acid–gut microbiota axis

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
1. Irregular dietary patterns (e.g., late breakfast, reduced meal frequency) upregulate the bai gene cluster by disrupting cholecystokinin (CCK) release rhythms and gut microbiota circadian rhythms, leading to increased production of secondary bile acids, particularly DCA. High‐carbohydrate dietary patterns increase gallstone risk (OR = 1.329).

HIF-1α is involved in the regulation of MUC5AC expression.

open access: yes, 2014
When HIF-1α expression is increased, MUC5AC expression is induced; conversely, when HIF-1α expression is decreased, MUC5AC expression is reduced accordingly. (A) Gain-of-function study with mammalian HIF-1α expression vector in NCI-H292 cells. DNA of the

Therapeutic potential of a Bax inhibitor‐1/TMBIM6 antagonist (BIA) and its analogues in Aspergillus fumigatus‐induced asthma via dual targeting of AKT and epithelial‐derived inflammatory cytokines

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 19, Page 5975-5991, October 2026.
Background and Purpose Aspergillus fumigatus (A. fumigatus) exposure causes of severe allergic asthma, characterized by airway inflammation and epithelial dysfunction. TMBIM6 (Bax inhibitor‐1) has been implicated in airway epithelial stress responses and AKT signalling.

Updates in COPD Management: From Inflammatory Pathways to Targeted Therapies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 56, Issue 10, October 2026.
COPD is a heterogeneous disease driven by overlapping neutrophilic and eosinophilic inflammatory pathways. This review highlights the shift from symptom‐based treatment toward phenotype‐ and biomarker‐directed care. Blood eosinophils, FeNO, and IgE predict corticosteroid responsiveness and identify candidates for biologic therapy.

Niflumic Acid Reduces Histamine-Induced MUC5AC Expression in Human Conjunctival Epithelial Cells

open access: yes, 2011
Background/Aims: Histamine is an important inflammatory mediator in allergic conjunctivitis. The aim of the present study was to explore whether histamine induced MUC5AC production in human conjunctival epithelial cells (HCECs), and to describe the ...

Reconstruction of native cellular microanatomy in a novel bioengineered full thickness human nasal mucosal construct

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 249, Issue 4, Page 950-969, October 2026.
Bioengineered tissue constructs are vital technologies employed in in vitro testing of both fundamental biological principles and industrial screening practices. Current approaches to modelling the nasal mucosa in vitro are not representative and are associated with limitations that impact their reliability and predictive value.
