Multi-robot Systems

Proceedings of the Southern African Institute for Computer Scientist and Information Technologists Annual Conference 2014 on SAICSIT 2014 Empowered by Technology, 2014
Development of cooperative behaviour for multi-robots system (MRS) is an important aspect of robotic task achievement. This is because it is safer to use more than one robot to achieve a task for continuity measurement of task completion and it is also quicker to complete a task on time with two or more robots as against one robot.

FLIP: Prototyping multi-robot systems

Robotics and Autonomous Systems, 2005
Abstract The main objective of this article is to promote the use of inexpensive and realistic prototypes to verify the applicability of state-of-the-art technologies in the area of mobile robotics and intelligent manufacturing systems. We propose a toy prototype based on a LEGO® Mindstorms™ RCX brick extended with a PDA and wireless LAN. We describe

Communication Systems for Multi Robot Systems

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2000
Abstract This paper dealt with a communication system between the field mobile robot and the control station. The control station had two functions; one was the function as a control system that could gather vehicle and travel status from a robot working at field, and send a control commands to the robots, another was the function as a decision ...

Analysis of Multi-Robot Systems

IIE Transactions, 1986
Abstract This work introduces and analyzes the concept of a multi-robot cell. The paper discusses the advantages of such a cell, suggests a classification scheme and points out the specific activity control issues to achieve conflict free (e.g., no collision) operations.

Heterogeneous Multi-Robot Systems

2010
The mechanical characteristics and functionalities of individual robots in a collective symbiotic system are of the utmost importance in order to confer suitable capabilities to the symbiotic robot organisms. However, this does not necessarily mean that the design of individual robots has to be particularly complex from a mechanical point of view.

Multi-Robot Systems

2012
While the concepts of robotics and planning may be easily understood by the taking a single robot, it is not necessary that the problems we solve have a single robot in the planning scenario. In this chapter, the authors present systems with multiple robots, each robot attempts to coordinate and cooperate with the other robots for problem solving.

Distributed algorithms for multi-robot systems

Proceedings of the 6th international conference on Information processing in sensor networks - IPSN '07, 2007
This demonstration showcases distributed algorithms for configuration control in multi-robot systems. These algorithms include examples of gradient communication, clustering and dispersion, group motion, and network characterization. The algorithms are demonstrated on a swarm of 15 mobile robots.

Cooperative Heterogeneous Multi-Robot Systems

ACM Computing Surveys, 2019
The emergence of the Internet of things and the widespread deployment of diverse computing systems have led to the formation of heterogeneous multi-agent systems (MAS) to complete a variety of tasks. Motivated to highlight the state of the art on existing MAS while identifying their limitations, remaining challenges, and possible future directions, we ...
